Problem with port incision

Recommended Posts

I'm about 3 weeks post-surgery. I noticed today that the area around my port incision (the largest one) is bright red. It's also tender to the touch. I haven't had this before. It's not on my waistline, so there's no chaffing or anything. Other incisions still look normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm also 3 weeks post-op. The night before my two week check, all five of my incisions turned bright red around them and began itching. The next day at my appt. my DR looked at them and said that there was no infection. It was just a part of the healing and that everyone reacts diferently. I'm about 3 1/2 weeks out now and they are still a little red around the two larger incisions, but no longer itch. It's always best to give your DR a call though.

You should definitely call your doctor, even if it is just a percaution. Sending healthy vibes your way.

How are you doing now? I'm one week out and my port incision is red and still tender. My other incisions are on their way to healing, but the biggest wound is so tender. I can feel the port and it's still a little swollen. What did your doctor say?

I'm anxious to hear from you. My email is lee12bee@yahoo.com.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
