Shrinking Violets Part 4

Recommended Posts

Hey girls, we are home from dinner. We have miss Kinsey spending the night, so this will be short!! I miss her so much, but right now she is on the porch blowing bubbles. We played a game of war (with cards) and I swear to you, in one round I was down to 11 cards!! It was hilarious! She was dancing the little jig, and giggling, she was so happy to be winning big!!

Well we thought the deer and Rick both lived through it, we were wrong, he found her in the median this morning, she had a broken neck we figure. If you saw his leg, you'd know why---but if one of them lived to tell about it, I am more than thankful it went the way it did. He is still kinda freaked out about it, we all are. I know he has contemplated it happening, we live in a rural area, and spend HUGE amounts of time on the bikes---but to know you CAN and DO react in a wise manner is cool. Rather than freaking out and screaming and freezing, which is what I likely would have done!

OK----off to run a bubble bath.

Tomorrow I am going to go get my hair cut. Not as short as Michelles----but several inches----thinking 6-8 are GONE!!!

I am off work until the 21st!! YAY!!!

See ya later probably!

Oh yeah!! I made 3 pounds towards the 5 as of this morning--------of course that was before my massive dinner, so we'll see what tomorrow says. LOL

Morning gals

just wanted to check in before i vanish for the day. I'm showered and drinking my coffee before i have to finish getting things together and leave for the cemetary.

I'm ticked because the pool is a little cloudy, we have had so much rain it was a mess from my ph being off, i got it clean except a few leaves i missed and almost clear but still a little cloudy, it is always perfect so it doesn't make me happy the day of a party.

have a great weekend everyone

oh i saw someone... an arch enemy to be honest.... who has thrown in my face recently she is smaller than me.. well, i didn't even know it was her and i knew when i saw her she had full rny - she lost 150lbs in 6 months and the skin on her face and neck alone made her look like she was 75years old.... and said she is super hot.... with all the skin and the hips and ass she had, can't be less than 25-30lbs less than me... and i'll take that anyday, expecially since i was out last week and was complimented and told i didn't look a day over 30.

ok that is my good moment of the day...

oh that and i'm down the 5 from june and maybe if i can go to the bathroom, i can get working on the -5 for july

Jenn-a good compliment goes a long way, right? wooohooo!

Kat-way to go!! You will make the -5 this month. I am still working on it! But I have faith!

Have a great day everyone. Say a prayer that my dsd makes it thru the day with her grandma unscathed....(with no guilt trips)

Respect the pouch!

I logged on, and had forgot to weigh-------so I read Tracy's post--went to the scale and I can claim the -3!!! YAY!!!

But tonight we are going to the Chuckwagon thing. But usually with me, I hang on a weight for a couple days or even a couple of weeks, and then a pound or 2 will drop off, then I hang there and on and on again.

Hope things go well for your dsd Tracy----I predict soon it will not be an issue. She will be around you enough to develop a "Tracy Backbone"!!!!! LOL

We have several large Maple trees around us. When Rick took out the big ladder to service our cooler this year, he used it and climbed up into the big tree in the yard, and hung a new swing for the kids. Now that Kinsey can swing herself----she is out there day and night, she loves it. It swings such a long distance, and her weight is not enough to make it go real high, but with the long swing back and forth she thinks she is going great guns!!

We had a swing in it before that was made from a tire, but cut to look like a horse, and you straddled it to swing. BUT she could not pump to go on it, and she NEVER used it. So he put a regular swing up there, and give the horse to our son, for our grandson--she was not thrilled over that! Too bad!!! She was so used to being here every day---she is now wandering around to see what all has changed.

Hey Jane, can you fitme in today for a haircut?? Lori who does mine, is not sure she is going to be able to do mine today. She called me from the Urgent care, they are thinking her DD may be having an appendicitis attack. If so she will go home with the grandkids, and I will be shaggy for longer. She said if they send her DD home, then by my appt time the kids Dad will be there. So just playing wait and see right now. Hope she is well for her sake, not just my hairs!!

Good Luck on your memorial thing today Jenn--sorry about the pool----it is always something it seems like. But it will be fine, they know it has been raining! You are just lucky to HAVE a pool!!!

Next weekend is our Fire and Ice Rally. I think we will leave and go down on Thursday, and spend a little time exploring the ice caves----which is a big freak out for me--the caves are! Gonna be brave!

So Suzanne, is this new job offer something you would enjoy? More $$$?? You always seem to talk about your hospital volunteer time like you really enjoy it. Keep us in the loop!

From the looks of the map on the news, Terry is waking up to fresh COOL air! Mornings in the mountains are so crisp I love it! Our rally on the other hand is desert! But it is a fun rally, it is geared to the family---it is nothing to see generations of a family walking around. The local high school cheerleaders there have a play area for the kids, they have a dozen or so bouncers--the giant air up things kids jump in, and they have a fountain the kids are allowed to play in. Where the last rally we went to was really heavily attended by biker gangs----this one is a family affair!

Guess it is pancake time......my 3 pounds may seriously not last. But this is rare time with the Kinsey girl, so pancakes it is!

Have a great day everyone---will check in when I can!

Company picnic at 11........

I went and worked out his morning and remembered that it was my turn to take my nephew to his support group meeting. So I went home and got him and drove him all the way out there to find out that they decided to change the time to later. Oh great. So home we go.

Sister and her hubby packed up to go spend the night at a friends farm. They can shoot the guns and ride the atv's. They took my nephew with them so that he can be kept busy and have a good time. My hubby left to go visit his twin about an hour drive from here. Yes, I have the house all to myself. I finish cleaning and I'm running the sweeper when my other nephew calls and wants to know if he can bring the girlfriend and her son and Abby over to go swimming. CRAP. I called hubby and asked if he could turn around and come and get me. LOL. So much for a nice peacefull day to myself.

The job is in the department that we volunteer in. I already do quite a bit of the work anyway. Now I would just get paid for it. I still have to talk to the supervisor to find out if she is still interested in me and how they go about hiring. It is definately more money than I am making now, alot more. The problem would be in the hours. It would weekends and evenings. I told hubby I didn't think that would be a big problem since we are here all weekend. We travel during the week and I don't mind evenings because all the big wigs are gone home by then. The job I have now is less than minimum wage and is a no brainer, this new one is twice what I make now but a lot more work. Physically and mentally. But the paycheck would be nice. So we just need to wait and see what happens.

Trying to decide if I want to go swimming with them or stay in where it's cool and quiet. Wish me luck.

Ohh I kept forgetting to update ya'll on my dad in WSOP. :frown:

He was knocked out 3rd day so he came home yesterday. He said he's not upset, he played well, just got unlucky. First 2 days he was above average in chips, and on day 3 he just had some bad beats.

He said he played next to Jean Robert (from Survivor) at one table, and me & my dad watch Survivor together so apparently dad was funny and asking him all kinds of secret questions about Survivor lol. I bet he loved that. Normally my dad doesn't mess with the 'celebrities'; but he couldn't resist talking to the survivor kid.

Russ and I about to go to Publix to get groceries, Carson is staying at my parent's tonight. I'm gaining weight. I am going to tell my doc (fill scheduled July 20) that I think somethin is wrong and he needs to quit blowing me off, if he doesn't want to at least do a fluero, I will be going to another doc for a 2nd opinion. Hopefully that will get the ball rolling.

Good Morning, Violets..

I'm up early to get ready for the early church service. I'm lay reader today plus I'm playing flute and singing a solo. It's call the "Judy show". We have a wedding outdoors at noon. It's 49 degrees right now.. mighty chilly for mid-July. But at least the church won't be hot and stuffy. We don't have a/c in the church and it can get downright uncomfortable during the summer months, but not this year so far.

I got my pool time in yesterday. I hope to get some in today, but Kris invited us out for the afternoon. We'll have to see how pooped we are after all the activities today.

PamELa should be arriving home today. Hope Michelle and Terry are having fun on their get aways.

Off to get prettied up... seems to take longer every time now. :frown::tt2:

Everyone have a great day!! Be good to yourselves.

Good Morning Girliez-

We've had a perfect few days in Steamboat Springs. Yesterday the sky was filled with hot air balloons, the kids went rock climbing and had a blast, and in the afternoon we went to an awesome art festival. I got a henna tattoo around my ankle and I'm liking it!

Today we're reluctantly leaving here and then heading for Rocky Mountain National Park & then Estes Park -- should be a nice road trip.

The weather has been perfect -- No air conditioning required! Hard to believe, eh, Haydee and Tracy? I'm sure gonna miss Colorado. Really hoping I can come back with Richard in late September to see the leaves changing and maybe drive to Moab, Utah, too. I keep hearing such nice things about it.

TTYL!

Morning gals

Tracy glad you guys made it through the weekend and all is weel.

Terry - sounds perfect

I'm really sick to death about my life change the last 10days, i don't know how to take any of it. I am hurting so badly and don't know what or how to move on. The party is over and I don't have anything major to distract me and in the last 12 hrs, that is not good, i have not slept more than an hour at a time in the last 10days and i am up thinking, which is not good.

i don't know what to do with myself - and how worthless i feel, but i wont bore you with that.

anyway, have a graduation party today, going to try to get my shit together so i can function.

hope you all have good day

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
