Worried about failing

Recommended Posts

I lost about six pounds (mostly Water, I'm sure) during the first week of my pre-op diet, and then I plateaued. I haven't lost anything during the second week of my pre-op diet (surgery is tomorrow), and it's making me worry that maybe I won't lose after the band, either. I've stuck to the diet, and I can't figure out how I've cut my calorie intake so much and haven't lost. How is that possible? I keep track of calories, so I know I'm staying in my target range. Any thoughts?

My only word of advice is to RELAX. If you follow all the rules and diets of the lapband you will lose weight. Everyone is nervous, just try and relax and focus on the start of a new you. This is the start of a happier and healthier you, and the lapband is the tool that will help make that possible! Good luck to you tommorrow, and I'm sending you positive vibes.

Brockbabe is so right! You are still healing. Between now and your first fill, you may not lose anything. I gained and lost the same 4 pounds several times. But once you get a couple of fills, start feeling some restriction, and are better able to eat as you are supposed to, you will start that consistent weight loss you've been impatiently waiting for!

Also, understand that you can eat TOO LITTLE! If you don't give your body adequate "fuel", it will store everything you take in for fear it's going to stop completely. Track what you eat ... write it down or log it on one of several websites. Try to aim for 1,000 - 1,200 calories per day. Drink 8 glasses or so of Water.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
