Hi everyone. I had my lap band procedure last Thursday (6-4) and having some pain and soreness that I thought would be long gone by now. I have 6 entry sites and to the left of my belly button is an incision that is approx. 2.5" to 3". It is extremely sore and feels "strange" when I walk or sit. I'm assuming this is my port site? Am I correct? I'd really like to talk with you all about this and hear it from someone who has actually had the surgery. I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello. I had the same incisions and yes the 2.5 to 3 inch incision was my port site. My site was extremely sore as well and was the last little bit of pain to go away. It lasted for a couple of weeks and then when I started going to the gym I could really feel it when I pulled that section too much. My doc told me to stay away from any activity or action that caused a pulling sensation or anything that I felt was uncomfortable. He said give it time to heal and it will.

The strange feeling is because the port is stitched to your muscle, so when you pull or strain you will feel it until it is healed. Take it easy for a while longer and you will be fine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
