1 week post op and feeling nauseated!!! N E 1 else?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on May 26th and since my surgery I have lost 10lbs. I had lost 10lbs on my preop diet and so, in total I have lost 20lbs since I started this journey. I started my mushy food today, my doctor only required 1 week of liquid diet. well, everytime I eat (and i only eat really small quanitites about 1/4-1/2 cup) afterwards, I feel nauseated until i'm allowed to drink my Water. Then after I drink water, I feel better.

Hi Zuly, Congratulations on your weight loss. You should be very happy with those results. My surgery was on 5/28/09. I only had to diet one day before surgery. I have been on Clear Liquids since 5/27/09. How are you feeling? Who is your doctor? What kind of mushies are you eating. My doctor had a patch put behind my ear for nausea. He also gave me a prescribtion for nausea as well. I can't wait until I can have mushies, but I do not want to fell bad or nausaeated.

well, i've had some pureed tuna, mashed potatoes and refried Beans. nothing gets stuck, and i eat small portions, but after a few minutes, i feel nauseated. then, in an hour when i get to drink, i feel better. maybe i'm eating too much, i don't know. i get satisfied with about 1/2 cup of food. the doctor told me after i eat mushies this week, i can work slowly to solid foods next week. i didn't feel bad after the surgery, just started this week. i go see the doctor on thursday. hopefully by then this feeling will go away.

the first 6 days after my surgery i was nautious 24/7. like morning sickness ALL DAY. i got a Rx for Zofran (Anti-nausea) and BAM, all better. I am still on full liquids, 11 days out. And am feeling much better. Heading back to work tomorrow since surgery. Ask your Dr. about Rx's for nausea. It's not uncommon for some of us to have such dramatic reactions..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
