Do you shake/stir or blend (in a blender) your whey protein drink?

Has anyone heard anything about not putting your whey Protein Powder (with milk or Water, or whatever you add to it) in a blender due to the blender changing the the efficacy of the whey Proteins? I think I remember hearing this in one of my nutritional consultations. Would like to hear what anyone has to say about it. Thanks!

That is what everyone else has said also, and I actually just ordered the magic bullet last week with the intention of definitely putting my shake in it! I like smooth shakes with no lumps. It makes me nauseous when I can taste the powder.< /p>

I would like to know if blending has an effect on it. I cant imagine why it would? but it would be good to know. I have the Magic Bullet too - love it. Easy to use and easy to clean! :)

The Protein starts breaking down as soon as you mix up the shake, blender or no blender. This why you shouldn't mix up your shakes ahead of time and put them in the fridge. But you can blend them just fine. Just drink them right after.

I use the Blender Bottle available at Amazon or GNC and it works great. No lumps. It is just a plastic bottle with a little wire whip metal ball that really breaks up any lumps. I love it!

Ok I don't doubt this to be true. What about the already premixed/bottled/ready-to-drink shakes? Do they have broken down protien? Just curious.

There are Protein powders that are protein isolates...I use the Unjury product. It mixes well, is not affected by anything..except heat...not to be used in anything warm stuff over 130 degrees. Supposedly, the isolates are more beneficial medically than the whey. Dunno, but I just found the Unjury to agree with me and taste buds. You can even put a scoop of it in milk and stir with a spoon. It's cool. :)

Recently I have been just mixing my chocolate powder (unjury...I love it!) with a tablespoon of creamy Peanut Butter and super skim (or skim if I cant find super skim) milk. I haven't gotten tired of it yet. Once I mixed lite cocunut milk with vanilla Protein powder and milk. That was pretty good.

Here is a thread with a lot of Protein shake recipes: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/200-protein-shake-recipes-49774/ Its really great, I can't wait to try the pumpkin one (the first one I think).

What is a magic bullet? Where do you get them? It sounds like some type of blender.

Its a small blender - you blend the drinks in the actual cup.

Walmart.com: The Original Magic Bullet Express Blender/Mixer System: Appliances

I just wish you could buy extra cups and colored rings.

I love mine, had it for over a year...but I think a seal or something has busted. Now when I blend the drinks, the drink actually spills out and its a mess. I'll just have to break down and buy another one.

Thanks jus4kics! I just ordered the extra cups. :tongue2: I'll look for the extra gasket, and if I cant find it I'll be sure and call them.

I just bought a magic bullet but have not mastered the Protein drink recipies. do you have any good ones?

I do 8oz milk, one scoop of whey Protein powder then add either a tea spoon of SF/FF instant pudding and a bit of crushed ice or some fruit or sometimes both (frozen raspberries and lemon pudding). One of my favorite ways is a bananna and reduced fat Peanut Butter or frozen strawberries and RF PB.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
