I had surgery the day after you did. (Color Me HAPPY).:wink2:

I also had yogurt, I could have had Protein Drinks but didn't want any. I also had ICE CREAM. The reason I indulged was because I wasn't eating much and it was something I could tolerate. Didn't mess up my weight loss in the least. I still lost five pounds the week after; but remember, this is a time for healing, not a time to worry over weight loss yet. Happy Losing to YOU & ME!:w00t:

Mary

PS I went for my week check-up Friday, & the DR> added soft vegetables w/o skins, fish, eggs, cottage cheese. I went back to work & had Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans. They were WONDERFUL!

What are some of the things you all ate the first week after surgery? I am eating Jello, crystal light, caffeine free tea, and fudgecicles. Not to mention the Water and chicken broth. What did you guys all eat?

My very first "meal" was orange-ade that they made in the hospital cafe. Then later, I had a lime popsicle from the gift shop. It was SO good, I got another one before I left the hospital later that day. First week, I drank a lot of unjury chicken Soup, it's a Protein mix that tastes just like chicken soup. Jello was good for when I really wanted to feel like I "ate" something. I didn't have any fudgesicles but I did have popsicles. Lots of popsicles. :wink2:

Oh!! And those cup-a-soup packages - Loved those.

I was done on the 12th this month so far these are all the things I've had - Water, apple juice, milk, pumpkin soup/tomato Soup - thinned out heaps. Popsicles, sustagen and that's really it - I actually don't mind it but others I know have trouble on the post op diet - thankfully I have some variety with the Soups. Oh and I had some pouring custard - good stuff

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
