  1. I had exactly the same thing for over an hour. I went to this web site for advice. One lady said to lay down. That sure did it for me.
  2. Go to Wal-Mart to the drug store items and get a box of Vivarin. They are caffein pills. One in the morning does it for me.
  3. I had surgery on the 14th of May. On May 22nd Dr said I could have mashed potatoes, soft vegetables, eggs, fish, cottage cheese. (no skins). I also had a hernia repair--no problem with that. I have also had no problems adding the extra food. Mary
  4. I'm 60 also, and I had surgery ten days ago. I have many of the problems that you have, and many of the desires, also. You can do this--just make up your mind that you WILL do this. I have a husband who was dead-set against me having the surgery. I told him I was going to get it done anyway, and I did. (He did finally become excepting of the surgery before I had it done). Good luck and GOD bless. Mary
  5. I was banded on the 14th. I took ONE ex-lax (I didn't want to put too much burden on my stitches). It went down fine. I take a blood pressure pill that is as long as two of those pills. Dr. said I'd have no trouble with that long pill and he was right. Anyway, the one ex-lax was perfect. Made me feel much better.:wink2: Mary
  6. I had surgery the day after you did. (Color Me HAPPY).:wink2: I also had yogurt, I could have had protein drinks but didn't want any. I also had ICE CREAM. The reason I indulged was because I wasn't eating much and it was something I could tolerate. Didn't mess up my weight loss in the least. I still lost five pounds the week after; but remember, this is a time for healing, not a time to worry over weight loss yet. Happy Losing to YOU & ME!:w00t: Mary PS I went for my week check-up Friday, & the DR> added soft vegetables w/o skins, fish, eggs, cottage cheese. I went back to work & had Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans. They were WONDERFUL!
  7. TO PENN REPORTER: I had surgery on Thursday 14th May, came home on Friday. I was alone till husband came home that evening. If for some reason he hadn't come home I would have been just fine. I AM taking care of myself. This is Sunday-three days out and I'm fine. Going back to work tomorrow. Mary
  8. I had been thinking about the same thing. This is what I figured I'd do (I'm being banded this Thursday)-- after my four weeks of soft/mushies, I plan on eating UNDER 1000 calories a day for like maybe four days in a row, then I'll eat 1200-1300 calories for one day only. It is my understanding that this will keep your body from going into the starvation mode. Mary
  9. Hello I'm having surgery this coming Thursday, May 14th, and because you took the time to tell me step-by-step what happened, my journey will be much smoother. Thank you so much! mary
  10. Hi My surgery date is May 14th. I went to ask.com & asked how do you shrink a liver for surgery. The answer came back to this very web site with really good explainations. You might check it out. Because of what I learned I know what foods will kick-start a huge water loss (10 lbs in 5 days for me). I'd think you also could kick that water out, thusly showing the weight loss that you need to show. Good Luck Mary
  11. BCBS is very good at approval. 6 months of seeing the dr. once a month to monitor weight loss, and then you are home free. I did not even loose that much weight in the six months. I'm approved and will get banded May 14th. Really, just relax, you'll get approved. Mary
  12. Matt You brought me to tears, and inspired me beyond words. My journey begins on May 14th. I pray to do as you have. Mary
  13. :thumbup:Hello I'm looking foward (NOT) to beginning that phase myself in two weeks. I wish someone would tell us what the very best protein shake is as far as protein content etc. I am NOT interested in using a protein that's made of gross proteins. GOOD LUCK! MARY
  14. Hello Again I live in Clarksdale MO, which is 25 miles east of St, Joseph (home of the Pony Express, & Jesse James:thumbup:). I am also very excited. I wish it were tomorrow instead of 33 days away. Mary
