Dr. Adam Glasgow - Dr. Adam Glasgow is Great!

Recommended Posts

I was banded by Dr. Adam Glasgow. He is great! He's experienced, kind, gentle, and caring. His Partner, Dr. Arthur Glasgow, is great too. Together they have put together a great LapBand program. They genuinely care for their patients and their success with their LapBands. They provide a great support system for their band patients, both pre and post surgery. Their website is www.massweightloss.com. Check it out for more details. On a scale of 1 to 10, both of the Glasgows are 12's.

I love my band!

Sue

I just had my first visit with Dr. Adam Glasgow 4 days ago and I'm on my way. I've already got the first two of three appt's scheduled and things are moving along so fast. I was approved for RNY surgery 6 years ago but backed out, way too invasive for me. I'm finally ready to take the steps necessary to lose the weight once and for all and I've picked a great doctor. He's got an incredible bedside manner and I can't wait to embark on this journey.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Dr. Glaskow. I recently signed up for on of the lap-band seminars there at the office. My seminar groups date is January 7th. Your good words of Dr. Glaskow, have made me feel that much more confident in my decision to choose his practice. Thank you!

Both Adam and Arthur are wonderful, I'm almost 1 year post-op and have never had any problems with them. And the girls at the office are great too (Kathy's my favorite)

I was banded by arthur glasgow in august 2008 so now i am post op 19 months- I have seen both adam and arthur they are both wonderful i have lost 75 lbs and am more than half way to my goal - is a great feeling to regain control over your eating and weight . i would highly recommend the weight loss specialists to anyone interested in weight loss surgery - I love them even the office staff is very helpful. Most important is your maintenance visits. Keep going back till you feel "right" - full can be different for everyone so finding your right spot the most difficult part.

I am so excited to be going to the seminar next Thursday 3/25/10. I have read so many good things about this group and especially love that they are so caring and respectful, something you don't always experience in the "outside world" as a person of size. I feel that all my experiences, both successes and failures, have led me to this point. It is my turn to start to finally live the life I deserve! You all have been such an inspiration to me!

Thank you!

Katie

"I am so excited to be going to the seminar next Thursday 3/25/2010...

Katie"

Hi Katie,

I am going to their seminar on 4/5/2010 but I'm trying to get in for 3/25 if they get a cancellation. I called 3/9 but 4/5 was the earliest they could give me. I just want to get this whole process moving! I already went to 2 other seminars at different hospitals but I definitely want to go to this one before I choose. They have such a great website and seem to have more followup care than the others. I live in NH so it's going to take me 1 -1 1/2hrs to get there but I think it will be worth it. If I get in for 3/25 I hope we run into each other. It would be nice to start this with someone who is starting at the same time. Priscilla

Hi Pricilla,

It is so great to hear from another person who is in the exact same shoes as I am in....research and planning. I originally was going to look into UMass Worcester but I decided to go with a smaller practice. I have done a ton of research and I want a more personalized experience. This practice does ONLY gastric banding surgery and I have not read even 1 negative comment so far on this or the other websites I have been on. While I have read positive things on the UMass Worcester program an all the surgeons, there were quite a few people who said they felt like patients not people. This process is hard enough both physically and emotionally, I want to be nurtured on all levels. I am SO excited to be going to this meeting and getting the ball rolling and move forward on this journey.

 Katie

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
