Question??

Recommended Posts

I have a question, I am 11 days post op. My largest incision is about 2-1/2 inches up from my belly button and is about 1-1/2 inches long. Around this incision it feels like there is something hard under there, about the size of a baseball around the incision. Is this normal??? What is it?? Will it go away??

Hi Missy,

I'm 17 days post-op. It sounds to me that the hard thing you're referring to is your port where you will have your fills put in. That's what is hard under the skin. Good luck on your weight loss.

It sounds like the port to me, too. I noticed that around 3-1/2 weeks, my port went down. Now I can only find it if I poke around. Be patient-when you go for your checkup the doctor will know if something is up!

Good Luck,

Carrie

Yeah your port is at the largest incision site, it will be somewhere in that general area,, The hardness is also due to them sewing the muscles up and causing scar tissue.......

I just had my surgery 8/30/05.. I am now really starting to love it, and feel the liquids only crap is worth it,,,,lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
