8cc in band with no restriction

Recommended Posts

wow, that's terrible. May I ask how they found out there was a leak? Do they have a test for that?

I had gone in for 3 or 4 fills and each time they pulled back the Fluid there would be a little less than had been put in before, even with my new fill. This last fill in May, it was 2 cc less than it was in April.

Aha. That makes sense. They draw it all out before adding more to it. I knew this, but didn't make the connection. Oh dear. Well, I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma. Too bad there isn't any way to correct this without another surgery. I hope all goes well for you. My prayers are with you. God bless. Patty

With the band, it is a slow process. At first I took off alot of wt. then it slowed down to only 10 lbs. lost in 4 months and now that I am at the proper restriction, I have steady weekly wt. loss. Don't get frustrated or give up. It will work for you, too.

Maybe that's better than going back to the doctors every month for 8 months to get where you are. Some doctors fiddle with 1/2 to 1 cc. at a time. I think it's so you get those dr. visits into them and , of course, they make more money that way. I had 4cc put in on my first visit, then 2 cc on my next and 1 cc on the next and lastly, another 1 cc which I believe put me at my sweet spot, cause now I am losing again after 4 months of only taking off 10 lbs. in that period of time. I am at 8cc in a 10 cc band.

But that's the thing though, I would have no problems going up there once a month for 8 months you know? I'd rather do it slow but I guess it's a little late for that lol. I have to go up to my hospital every 3 months anyway to see my pulmonolgist Dr. So really it wouldn't be any problem but I dunno, my surgeon told me one thing and then he did another so I don't know who to listen to anymore. As for you congratulations!!! Even if you only lost 10lbs still that's great. So far since I've started this entire thing and up til now I've lost 11lbs which compaired to others isn't alot but I've never lost that much on my own so I'm excited lol. Last night when I ate dinner I can't feel much restriction as I had 2 pieces of chicken and some cauliflower and Pasta. BUT I was full for about an hour which is longer than before the fill where it was only 20-30 minutes

I lost 56 so far. I started at 281 and now I am 225. I feel sooo much better. I can roll over in bed no problem, I can bend easier. I don't get out of breath climbing 1 set of stairs, and alot of my old clothes are being resurrected. lol. Don't fret. We'll get there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
