Did anyone else only have 2 incisions??

Recommended Posts

Hi ya'll. Well I just had surgery on Monday and I only have to incisions. One between my breasts and the other looking like it takes up my whole belly button. I would assume that is where my port is but there is a lot of gauze and tape there so it is hard to tell... The obviously is the source of my pain... the other one isn't even noticeable. I have heard so many people say they have between 3 & 5 incisions... anyone else only have 2???

I have 2 incisions .... one is about 2", where the port is, and the other is about 1", a little further down and slightly to my right from the bigger incision. I also have three lilttle "poke holes" that were not as big around as a pencil. One has already faded to nothing and the other two are close. They healed absolutely flat and you can't feel them if you aren't looking at them. I know some doctors are starting to do a 1 incision surgery where they go in at the belly button but haven't actually heard any comments about it from anybody.

I have 5 too, 4 are from the long metal pools they use, and one is the cut for my port which is about 2 inches long. So you are so lucky the 4 will heal really well and i won't be able to see them but the long one will leave a scar.

I have the same incisions that you do! The one that looks like it's in the bellybutton has been healing well and it's really hard to see unless you're looking for it. After the swelling goes down and you can take off the gauze, you'll be happy with it. Congrats on your successful surgery and good luck!

I read a post on another website I go to that asked if anyone knew about a 1 incision lap-band surgery. I googled it, and Dr. Scott at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas did the 1st 1 in the US. Apparently they are having a lot of positive results with it, since other docs have started doing it in other parts of the country. My surgeon used to be at UTSW, so maybe he does them to. Since I'm not banded yet, I think I will ask about it.

I have 3 total incisions and I think it has done wonders for the way I feel! I was banded on May 15th and already feel awesome. I have one that it is right under my left breast that is the biggest and I believe my port site. The other 2 are almost non existent and I forget they're there! My doc just did the first single incision surgery in Nevada but I don't believe that they are going to continue with that. Their program director/PAC said that they would rather have 2-4 small incisions that will fade easier over time then one big scar. There are probably other WLS out there that will start to get better and better at making less incisions! :cursing:

Thank you so much for your replies... it makes me feel better to hear that this wasn't some crazy technique my doctor decided to explore on my surgery! LOL... he has done over 3k surgeries so I am confident about what he has done. I just had a lot of scar tissue around my belly button that he had to fight and I was concerned that, that had something to do with why there were only 2. Thank you all again! Congrats on your continued success!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
