Elective C-Section Poll

Recommended Posts

There is nothing wrong with a c section if it is medically necessary. Most people do really well after one, but I don't think I would want one unless it was necessary. There is too much risk for infection. And as others have stated it is better for the babies lungs and breathing if it is delivered vaginally.

Therein lies the concept of choice. I think choices should be available to, and made by, the mother.

After watching my daughter go through labor and deliver my adorable grandson, I was thrilled that I never went through that.

Here's another question seeing the poll seems to be leaning toward "Only when medically necessary"

If woman have the right to choose as far as having an abortion goes, why don't you think they should have the right to choose on this subject?

That's a good question. I guess I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it as long as the woman knows the risks involved. Another thing to consider is if insurance would pay for an elective c section. Some may not pay unless it is medically necessary.

We have a dr. here that is C Section happy. He always finds a reason that it's medically necessary. It's probably because he gets paid more for them.

I can only speak from my own experience, but after having my son naturally through a regular vaginal birth, I can not imagine why anyone would choose a C-section.

I only felt labor for a total of 4 hours and did not use any type of block anesthesia. My baby and I went home 6 hours after I gave birth. I healed very quickly after. My pain and healing time was much worse after the last 2 of the four surgeries I've had. (lapband being the last)

A woman's body is made to give birth. It goes back to the way it was before childbirth. Again, I speak from my own experience.

I do understand that if there is some sort of complication, a C-section must be done. I just do not understand how anyone would choose it if they were truly educated on the differences.

I had my daughter through a C-section. She came out beautiful, without a misshapen head like some babies can get from a vaginal birth. I had a high-risk pregnancy (older first-time mother with diabetes) and the doctor wanted to induce labor. I went to the hospital on a Monday and by Friday morning I still hadn't delivered, so the doctor asked me if I wanted a C-section and I said yes. I have a scar on my lower abdomen, but it healed rather quickly and and I had a minimum of pain. Thank God for epidurals! My daughter came out healthy and has had nothing more than a cold in her 17 years.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
