Ever worry even THIS won't work?

Recommended Posts

trust me, i felt the same way...i was a self pay and i was kicking myself when it was over b/c i was so sure i was going to sabotage. i went into bandster hell and felt like i had NO restriction but once i started measuring and stopped relying on my own eyeballs, it got easier. i quit dr peppers (major addict), quit smoking, cut all sugar and salt and mayo out of my life and i feel good. i swear it will get better. :hurray:

Katie-

The Dr. Pepper is the hardest thing for me to do without, too!!! I just got my approval, no surgery date yet, but I am trying to get off the Dr. Pepper now. I have gone two days, and last night (the end of day one) I got a stomache, cramps, cold sweat, a really bad headache and diarrhea. It continues today, and I'm just not sure if I have a stomache flu or if it is just the withdrawal from Dr. Pepper? How was your experience? I am actually so sick I may miss my son's baseball game tonight. I have gone to games one day after surgery more than once!!! If it is withdrawal, I am really glad I am doing it now and not along with the pre-surgery diet!!:grouphug:

I wonder if I am alone in my fears. My fear that even though I have spent thousands of dollars, put my body through the trauma of surgery, have a lump that feels like a baby's elbow poking out of my gut, have this amazing advantage over the average dieter..even with all this.. I still won't lose weight and keep it off. :grouphug: I worry that I won't be able to follow the simple guidlines, or that I will be the freak that this doesn't work for. I suppose this is part of bandster hell. Other than my port lump and the lovely frankenstein like scars on my belly I feel like nothing has changed and that scares the heck out of me.

I worry about all of this too. I have a lot of serious health issues due to my weight. Nothing else has worked for me. I feel like this is my last chance and I am doing it! I have done the research, I have been going to support group at the surgeons office for nearly a year, and I have LapBandTalk.com. There's always going to be someone to give me encouragement when I am down and Celebrate the ups with me, too. You and I are not alone. Use your support system, and take one hour at a time if you need to. then one day at a time, then a week at a time, etc. I have 100 pounds to lose, and I have made up a goal chart with 14 mini goals, because I knew the bigger ones would discourage me. I am going to Celebrate all fourteen of those goals. Some represent dropping to a new BMI category (Morbidly Obese to Severely Obese, for example) or my "halfway" point, etc. Figure out what your motivation is, use that to determine your goals and USE YOUR SUPPORT SYSTEM!!!! You won't fail if you don't let yourself lose your motivation. Best wishes to you!!!

MoonBeam,

I had some of those same fears too, but so far it has been a very positive experience for me. I lost about 10 lbs on pre-op then about 25 more by the time I got my first fill. I had some restriction post-op, a little more at the first fill (was able to eat about 1.5 cups of food). I now feel like I have hit my sweet spot on the second fill a few days ago (at 4.5cc now). Now I can only eat a few bites of food per meal, this morning that worked out to almost a whole scrambled egg with a sprinkling of cheese. At this point, the hardest thing is learning not to put so much food on my plate because it will just go to waste. Actually, another thing I am still working out is how to get enough nutrition in because I know those few bites are not enough to keep me healthy. Luckily, I like my Protein Shakes so I have been having those between meals.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
