fill releif!

Recommended Posts

Tuesdy I went in for my first fill. The process isnt that bad. When the Dr. handed me a cup of Water and told me to take a sip to see if every thing is ok, I should of said no but instead i let the discomfort go and 2 days later i was back in his office having some taken out. People we have to tell our Drs exactly how we are feeling. I was dehydrated and needed an I.V. couldnt eat or swallow any thing. I lost 7 lbs in 2 days, this is not healthy. I know i should have said somthing but i thought the discomfort would go away shortly but it didnt and i risked my health because of it. My Doc told me that liquids should pass easily and there shouldnt be any discomfort due to eating. It scared me into not being mach and telling the Doc exactly every thing he wants to know.

Thanks to all of you for your support!

WOW sorry to hear that you had an overfill. That's very common and sometimes you don't know you're overfilled till days and weeks late. We all react differently to fills. Some instantly feel too tight, Some have swelling that eventually goes down, others wait weeks then the stomach gets irritated and then swells.

I have a great doc that seems to do quite well with my fills. He puts the needs in and has me stand up and he fills the band completely. he has me take a drink of Water, he slowly retracts the saline from the band. When I tell him to stop he leaves the fill where it's at. I just say stop when I feel the water begin to pass through the band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
