Hello All, I'm in Nassau, but I haven't shared that I've had surgery with family or friends so I'm a little reluctant to identify myself. I was banded on 8/8/05 and it's been an up and down 5 weeks. I thought I could get and give support in an online group until I'm more comfortable with talking about it in person. I'm very proud and excited about my decision, but I don't want to hear from those who think I have no willpower or that I "cheated." I'm also not ready to be the topic of anyone's coffee-break conversations. I've been reading lots of posts and I admire you all...you are so open and so supportive.

Hi Mary,

Congrats on your banding. I am the oposite I tell everyone I was banded. I can;t keep it a secret.

The great thing about posting here is nobody will know who you really are so no chance of people finding out..lol

Thanks, Amy. I'm looking forward to being a part of this group. I'll probably read more than I'll post for awhile, at least until I get to know who is who. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
