what would happen if you got injured

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Now i dunno if this is a stoopid question but with the band what would happen if we got severally injured?

Like if we fell off a bike or in a car accident or something along those lines.

Would this have any effect on the band?

thanks in advance

Most likely it would depend on your injuries. I wear a medic alert Bracelet to let them know I have had Adj. Gastric Band and no NG tube without endescope and my doctors name and phone number.

Yup, what Rae said :) heh. I think a good many of us ordered medic bracelets a few weeks ago, saying basically the same thing.

There is a seller on Ebay named clicktags.com, he has really nice laser ingraved medical id plates, they come with a really cheap chain but I added mine to the avon medical id set. I paid $9.00 for 2 and that included shipping. The plates are really nice and I couldnt be happier with them. I got 2 plates ingraved for less than just the ingraving would have cost me at one of those places in the mall. ~Mandy

Fee,

this is certainly NOT a dumb question. Its actually one Ive thought of many times.

Im just relying on Divine intervention incase something happens and Im not aware to tell officials about my band.

Maybe having our banding ID card next to our driver license would help?

In the case of CPR, since my port is right below my sternum, I would *hope* that a health official would notice a scar with something hard under it and treat it with respect.

I guess if I live through the reason I needed emergency care, I would "deal" with it then. :nervous

Guest Bandarella

When I asked this question to my surgeon, she stated she had a patient who is a kick-boxer and has suffered numerous blows to the banding area without symptom.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
