I noticed recently that there have been a lot of threads saying something to the extent of "I was banded less than 6 weeks ago and haven't been filled yet. I haven't lost any weight. Is this normal ? "

I'm also in this position. I read another post in another section of the forums explaining why you really need to have a fill before you lose significant weight. I think I am trying to stick it out no matter what, but I'm just interested in those people that are further out that WERE in my/our same position. Did you have a lot of anxiety before getting a fill that maybe this wasn't going to work either ? Then you got a fill and realized, "Oh ! This DOES work !". I think I'm getting anxious and nervous that I'll be one of the people that the band just doesn't help. Can anyone that didn't lose any weight pre-fill share some wisdom ? Thanks !

Let me warn you that for MANY people the first fill doesn't do much. I honestly had zero restriction until my 4th fill. It's a process; you have to just hang in there.

after the swelling and irritation goes down from the surgery you will feel hunger before your first fill. I only lost weight the first 6 weeks by pure willpower (don't know where that came from. after my first fill lost a few more but the third fill it was game on. I just had my fourth fill yesterday. i might not have made leaps and bounds in my loss but it's been steady

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
