What a difference a fill makes

Recommended Posts

So, like many of you have mentioned here....my first fill didn't really "kick in" until about a week after and then hoo boy did it kick in! Wowzers.

I used to scoff when folks here would say "I ate a few forkfuls and was STUFFED". I thought "yeah that will never be me". I'm here to testify....:hand on bible:...it's true. WOW.

I humbly bow before all you amazing bandsters and your generosity with your experiences. I have learned much from you and will do my best to continue to pass on my own experience.

Wow. :full: What a concept!

ain't it awesome when it kicks in!! Since I've had restriction (just this month), my dog has gained 5. I think she might need a band. Celeste

I am really jealous! I got a fill over a week and a half ago, and mine hasn't done anything! The only big problem is how long it takes to get in and get another fill!

Ah Soonergirl, I understand the "sweet spot" varies person to person. I'm sorry you don't have that level of fill yet. Stay strong band buddy!!! We were banded around the same time so we have to stick together!!

(by the by, I probably have restriction from one fill because my organs are so fatty and yours aren't....so take THAT!)

Fatty organs? Please esplain Lucy? I mean why wouldn't everyone have it?

Everyone has it to some degree or another. But some people have more, some have less. I was told by my surgeon that he had to use the 10 inch in length band (still 4cc's) because my stomach was so large. Not large enough to qualify for the Vanguard band, but still larger. That says to me I have more fat on my stomach, hence more restriction. If Soonergirl has the same size band and less fat around her tummy, then it will take more fill to get to the same level of restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
