Hi Breanne! I just found out I am approved and my date is June 12! Now the nerves will probably start kicking in! I just keep reasoning with myself...I have been overweight with no success...now it's time to make a real change. For me AND my family!

Have you found out what kind of things you are going to have to do pre op? Diets, appts, ect?

I'm waiting for all that info in the mail!

Nope...they never said I had to do anything special. I have to go see a cardiologist/pulmonary specialist for pre op tests. Other than that...I haven't a clue. I am thinking that maybe it's time to start researching the different Protein Drinks and stock up on them. I know some people say some brands taste good and some are terrible.

yes I am not sure about the Protein Drinks. I dont know either if I will have to do a liquid diet or not. Right now I'm having eggs for Breakfast.....the lean cuisine for lunch it had turkey, potatoes and veggies (210 cals) and a slimfast and peice of fruit for dinner along with a couple other peices of fruit if I am hungry. As the time gets closer I may switch to 2 slimfasts

Wow! You are being good! I haven't got to that mindset yet. I will though as the time approaches. I sure dropping a few pounds will only make the surgeons job easier!

They didn't say anything about. I got the call yesterday about my insurance approving me (the call was from the surgeons office). They set up a surgery date and a date for the pre-op tests...that was it! I am thinking I will call them tomorrow just to clarify things.

oh wow I guess all the hospitals are just different! The reason the hospital gave up for having to loose weight is because your liver sits pretty much on top of where they put the band, so they have to lift the liver and the liver is like a sponge for fat! So by loosing weight it shrinks the liver and makes the surgery easier I guess.

I do have to confess along with the food I am eating I am still having my mocha/raspberry iced coffee from dunkins everyday.....I feel like I deserve it for eating well lol. Truth is I'm addicted!

I got a packet in the mail yesterday from the surgeons office. It has the times and dates of my pre-op appt. and plus a family type seminar that I must attend with my husband for any last minute questions or concerns. I also have the appt. to see the cardiologist and to see the pulmonary doc. I have to go on a liquid diet two days before the surgery. I am glad I don't have to lose a bunch prior to the surgery! I do understand about the liver and I have read that too. What is your BMI? I am under 40...maybe about 38. I don't know if that matters or not or maybe it's just the surgeon. Oh I would of course do the diet if it was required....but I wouldn't like it! Sounds like you are doing a great job Breanne! It's better really to start now watching what you eat. I am starting a job Monday and it will be a challenge eating healthy for lunch. I think I will food shop this weekend and try to come up with some smart choices.

My BMI is 41.6 my doctors office tells you inthe begining that it's a requirment to loose 10% of your body weight (my 10-15lbs) prior to booking s surgery date, but I've heard from others that is just to get you in the habit of eating right! Obviously it's not true because I have not lost it and I have a surgery date! I really struggled last night when I came home and my family had gotten take out! It was actually toture trying to stay away! lol But I did it!

Oh yes food at work is hard! I work nights so i switched up my lunch and dinner I eat something small for dinner and a little bigger for lunch...

I am thinking about buying a food processer and just experimenting a little with mushing up food and see what foods do well and not look like...well...something disgusting!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
