Hey all I am 370lbs, I started at 390lbs in oct 2008 as of today I am 370. I have yet to be banded. I am going through my hmo KAISER they are great. They want me to lose 10 more lbs so it's looking like my date will be around august or September of this year. Its a hard road but I am doing it. I can't wait till it's here. Just a slow road. Can't wait to read what other people went through.

Take care.

That's awesome! It will be here before you know it. I hope mine will be at the end of May or in June sometime. I just hope it's before my birthday in July. I am finishing up my 3-month supervised diet next month and so excited. :smile2:

Just keep your eye on the prize.

You might even speed up that 10 pounds by trying a bit of the pre-op diet I was on. 2 Protein Shakes per day (make sure they contain whey protein) and 2 lean meals that consisted of 3 oz lean Protein (about the size of a deck of cards) and a steamed vegetable. I lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks, so even if you added a little carbs to those 2 meals you'd probably lose 10 pounds quick. I know you want to get that surgery date set. I was a giggle-box that day. I knew my surgery was 2 weeks away and I was so excited. No matter how you do it, or how long it takes, remember that every pound lost is not just a pound lost but a pound you DIDN'T GAIN...and step on the road to better health. I wasn't nervous about the surgery, just carried the excitement with me and believed I would be back on my feet in a couple of days. GOOD LUCK

Congrats on the loss so far. You could speed it up as mentioned by the previous poster by doing the pre op diet early... IT's no fun that's for sure but it works.

Some doctors have their patients have 2 Protein shakes in the day and a 4oz piece of chicken breast or fish for dinner.

Good luck and congratulations to being on the road to a healthier you :smile2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
