Hello June Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys-

Just wanted to find out how all the June babies are doing!

I was banded on 6/15 and I have had 2 fills(one real fill and 7 days later a little more)

I'm down 32 lbs. but have been for several weeks- i'm at a plateau and I don't like it!

I know I sometimes make bad food choices- the bad thing is I can eat just about anything.......I'm trying to go for Protein, fruit and veggies- but sometimes chips and chocolate find their way into my mouth!

I'm tightening the belt now! Going to join the local fitnes center- weights, bikes, treadmills, classes and I'm committing to 4 days a week.

Must drink more Water too! And how about those Vitamins I bought and haven't opened? That's it- my inner drill sargent is going to kick my @ss into shape.

How are you all doing???

Hello Kiwi,

I was banded 6/22 and I've had one fill. I think I have pretty good restriction. I've lost 35 lbs so far. I've found that since my fill I'm not as hungry. Has anyone else noticed that?

Banded June 9. I started at 203 and am down to 181 (22 lbs.)!! That's not as much as you guys! Good job!

I was able to jog over a mile this week so I'm happy for that! I've had two fills and more plateaus than losses, but it'll all come off in the end. Patience is the key!!

Hello! I just had my 1st fill on Wed. It was a breeze. Am slowly adjusting to banded life, wishing weight would drop much faster. I do understand that's not my goal, but can always wish. When I look at the ticker I feel like it will take forever. Any thoughts let me know.

Congrats to you all....I started @ 316 and I was 270 this morning..so that's about 46 pounds. My true weekly weigh in is on monday so we will see where I am then. I have had one fill I am at 2cc's, I don't get hunger but I have had some female problems which I tend to munch more...I think that is stalling me a little. I just try to aim for 2 pounds a week....and snacking now consit of carrots, low fat string cheese..you know.

For the Vitamins - well they were opened but I should be on another bottle now. I was going to Y until I had got lazy again and the female things going on...So we are going to start back up AGAIN.

Everyone is doing great...isn't a great feeling to be such a great LOSSER. haha....

Hey Guys,

I am down 32 pounds as of today! I am eating very well and loving my band. This is the best thing I have ever done for me in my life. I have lost 5 pounds since seeing the nutritionist on the 15th of August. So that is pretty darn good. You guys are doing great. Keep eating right and exercise and you will see the pounds go. I am working out 5 times a week at my local Y and eating my Protein first and then my fruit or veggie. It is going really nice and I appreciate everyone's support!

I got a fill finally and it was a hell experience (no need to go into it all again) but it's okay, I got the fill and it has really set in. I had two PB's in the last two days because I was pushing the bounds too much. I got REALLY depressed about the PB's, they were both just really, really dumb. They mean it when they say that it make take a week or two for the fill to "kick in".

That being said.....as of this morning I've lost 30 lbs since surgery and add that to the 6 pre surgery so I'm at 36 lbs. Wow. I'm also fighting the "female trouble" right now and that always makes me stall. I seem to go stair steps style when I lose. Nothing for a couple weeks then *whoosh* a couple lbs go.

Weird.

Hey Keri, Thanks for the nice words... I very so much from day to day on what I eat. I normally will have and egg or yogurt or some slice deli meat w/ cheese for Breakfast. lunch is normally chicken or tuna salad (made with dill relish and ff mayo) or deli meat w/ cheese, or 1/2 grilled chicken salad and a fruit of some sorts. I normally have LF string cheese for snack or the protien chips from Kay Natural or carrot sticks. dinner well that just all depends, I have been eating ALOT of grilled or baked fish, chicken, pork loin and a veggie. I try to drink all my Water every day plus some and I think that helps alot. I do have a SF York Peppermint Patty every eveing. It's small and it taste great.

I journal everything, I count my caloires and I focus on protien first and then a fruit or a veggie. I eat until I am satified and I eat off a saucer. I stay away from big plates...the bigger the plate the more food goes on.

Hope this is somewhat helpful....maybe we could all journal our food on a thread under food...I know that really helps me because if it goes in my mouth it goes on the paper.

Everyone is doing great keep up the good work!!!!

I am not a big loser compared to you guys but I KNOW I am going to succeed. I am down 16.5 pounds since June 7. I have had two fills. The last one was last Wednesday. I started working out and plan to start dropping soon! I must NOT have frozen yogurt, ice cream or chocolate. Had a mini binge recently but compared to what my binges used to be--it was a mini.

WE CAN DO IT!

Hi everyone, I was banded on June 15th and so far I'm down 23 pounds. I haven't had a fill yet, going for my first one this friday and I can't wait I need it. I have not had any problems with being sick, or bp'ing. I feel like I can eat whatever I want so I hope a fill will fix this.

Wow- so many of you

have had such

great success.

I am only down 23 pds & have had more plateaus than loses. I think the problem is I may be too full- my fill that is. I have had two & am at 1.5cc. I feel good but sometimes its hard to eat enough. But its weird it all depends on what I eat. If its Protein I am totally done in about 6 bites. And when its that time of the month- well its like I am not banded at all- I can & will eat anything:0( So I don't want a unfill at all. Its tough to figure it all out.

What has been the hardest for me is I didn't think I would be dieting after the band. I guess that I am not but I feel like I am. I mean I watch what I eat & than get full really fast but am Mentally still hungry alot of the time. I feel deprieved still even though I know I am eating really anything I want - just very small amounts. Does that make any sence?? LOL LOL

One thing is for sure, I totally need to step up the exercise & be more consistant.

Well hopefully I can catch up to you guys! Congrats on all your accomplishments.

Wow, don't know how I missed this thread before. I'm a June bandster too (6/2)! I'm down 37 as of last Monday--more by this Monday I'm sure.

I've been working out like CRAZY!. I don't remember the last time I did less than an hour (minmum) of aerobic exercise during the day. That's just what it takes for me to lose--AND to keep my head. Whenever I get frustrated, angry, depressed, etc and want to eat I jump on my elliptical or head out the door. It generally takes about 12 minutes for a funk to lift and I start feeling good. I have FINALLY been working out at a level where I get that "runner's high" (although I'm not really running). For those who haven't experienced it, it is a very real phenomenon. The problem is you have to be in good enough shape and work out long enough to get there. Now I seem to be getting a "high" about 30 minutes into my walk (very fast pace--with hills) so I end up walking longer because of it. Sometimes I actually have to force myself to stop because my feet will be sore the next day if I push too much.

I don't think the MENTAL importance of exercise is brought up nearly enough. It isn't only for your body. It's good for the head too!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
