Port Pain snd Pilates

Recommended Posts

I was banded in mid-November and have since experienced very minor, occasional niggles from my port area. I've read some of the posts on here and it seems that this is not unusual. However, today I tried some Pilates for the first time and got some quite unpleasant pain around my port area. It only occurred when I lay on my left side (the side my port is on) and had to raise my right leg up. It was really quite sore so I stopped this move and didn't attempt it again. We later had to do the same move on the other side - and there was no port pain this time.

Has anyone else experienced port pain several months after surgery? Or has anyone experience of Pilates or other similar exercise - have you had port pain? I've been doing loads of walking and recently started swimming again - and not had any problems with either.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Theresa

I was banded in Sept. 2007 & I'm looking for a CARING surgeon who doesn't think only of DOLLARS but also about my wellbeing to remove my port & lap band. I've had it for 1 1/2 years & am tired of having constant EXCRUCIATING pain in the port. I found after my total unfill that I still have some restriction, especially in the am but FINALLY the gas pains have stopped.

I hope you have found resolution to your situation & are in good health & spirits. Thanks.

theresa - i had to wait a good 6 months before i tried any type of ab/core exercising. to date, i still have some minor port pain when i do certain moves in yoga or abs.....kinda just trudge through it.

i had complained for a while to my dr about the port pain, and he ran some tests. i had a small hernia under the port & when i had that repaired they noticed a small infection. luckily all caught early & fixed properly....

i'm 18 months out & it still gives me a problem - i had little belly fat to begin with (pear shapped) so it's highly visable. would love to move it to my butt where i'm sure i'll always have extra padding....

good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
