Lost 80, but still need to lose 80...STUCK!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm frustrated... I'm down to 250 from 330 (I'm 5'11 1/2) and still need to lose from 50 to 80 more lbs. I'm just not able to move the scale! I'm adjusted so tight that I literally get full on two or three bites. I've been at this level for about 6 months now. I should exercise, but have back issues and walking is hard for me - painful to back and knees. I have to wear a brace on one leg to walk somewhere close to normally.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really tired of this plataeu!!!

Thanks,

Barbara

I had surgery New Years Eve 2008, so I am 15 months out of surgery. I plateaued for 3 months, beginning in October 2008 at 71 pounds lost, then lost 14 in January 2009, now plateauing again.

In December, I met with the nutritionist and she suggested a low glycemic meal plan. I implemented that, and made sure I was eating solid foods and not Soups, shakes, Snacks etc.

I am not worrying about the plateau either. I think the more you worry about it, the longer it lasts.

The more I analyze my plateau, I am finding its mostly mental for me. I am at 110 lost, have broken two plateaus before, but this one is lasting FOREVER. I am 5 pounds away from getting under 200 and I think that scares me because I have never been this small in my adult life. I still have, what I am guessing to be, 60lbs to go. I think I am supposed to be learning patience and self-love in this plateau.

Look into aqua aerobics, VERY low impact, in fact none at all. And it really works. Maybe find a vhs or dvd specifially made for those needing to lose weight with major joint issues... they are out there, I just didn't go looking for one to give you a link. Good luck, I think when we focus so much on the plateau, it stays around much longer.

And congrats on your amazing success so far!

I am in the same boat as you are. I've lost 50 pounds since last Ausust, but I've been unable to lose any more for four months. Well, let's just say I've lost and gained the same two pounds for the last four months! I'll be so "right on" and gain, then sometimes I'll "fudge" and be down the two. It's weird. I'm going in for a fill tomorrow to see if that will help. I'm beginning to doubt everything I do--and am getting scared that I won't lose the next 50.

I'm definitely in the same boat. I'm pounds away from being in onederland and have been that way for the past 2 months. I think if I stop overthinking it, it will just happen for me. I haven't been under 200 pounds in over 10 years. So, its definitely mental.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
