I've gotten almost everything except for the food/liquids. I'll do that this week. Some things that I have on my list to do/buy that you didn't have(it's so helpful to compare!) are:

baby spoons (to remember to take small bites)

ear plugs/eye mask for resting in hospital

hot Water bottle

stool softener

pillow for ride home (to cushion between tummy/seatbelt

move things you need in fridge to top shelf

take BEFORE pics!

BIG mug for ice chips on ride home

What a great thread!

Ling, Gas-X is Simethcone, a medicine to break up intestinal gas bubbles. Some ppl swear by it, along with walking to get rid of post op gas pain. It is Over the Counter (OTC) in the states and comes in dissolving strips and chewable pills.< /p>

Cleared a shelf in the pantry. Filled it with Clear Liquids.< /p>

Filled freezer with fish and chicken, and ordered Protein

shakes and bars for pre-op diet.

Cleaning the heck out of the house.

Explaining everything to my husband in great detail.

That's it so far. My date is April 24th. Starting to freak out.

Oh, also ordered this Protein Drink mix called nectar. It's clear, so good for post-op, and I've read nothing but good reviews about the flavor and texture. Ordered ungery samples too, they will send a sample of every flavor. It was about $12. Popsicles what a great idea! Love the baby spoon idea.

Oh my god, so funny! Gaspains was me saying gas pains but with sloppy typing. (meaning the pains in the shoulder from blowing up your tummy) Wheatbags are fabric bag things full of wheat and you heat them up in the microwave (hope its called that in America!) and they are nice and warm. Like a natural heat pad Heated wheat bags by Lavender Lane NZ

and singlets are eerr.. tank tops? ha ha, its Australian I just found out on Wikipedia!!! Guess we've been learning from our Auzzie neighbours!! :P

OMG that is hilarious! Ok gotcha.

I dont think we have wheatbags here. At least I dont know about the natural heating pads. I do need to make sure and get myself a heating pad though.

I made a bunch of homemade broth, bagged and in the freezer (MUCH tastier than the canned or boullion). I also did the same with some homemade Soups for the mushie phase.

YOu could probably find wheat bags at a store like Whole Foods or another natural foods/grocery or online. My former roommate mad me one years ago but the cats love is to much it's gotten a bit hairy and I don't know if it can be washed, guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

Ok, forgive me. I am not much of a cook, but how do you make broth? I will gladly take any recipes....

Hey Jen,

I am sure that BG has a great broth recipe too, but here is how I do it. I just take a whole chicken and put it in a stock pot. Fill halfway to 3/4 with Water. Add chopped onions, celery, carrots and some thyme. Simmer and cook for a few hours (2-3) or until the chicken is very tender and falling apart. Strain the broth and VOILA, chicken broth...:) For the mushy stage I am sure you can smoosh the carrots up and some of the chicken can be pureed.

Thanks for the great suggestion on making and freezing it, BG! The easier it is to just thaw and heat, the better it will be! :smile2:

How are you doing with the rest of your appts. Jen?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
