50 lbs down and wearing same pants. Why?

Recommended Posts

OMG! I went through the same thing. I wore the same clothes for the most part of the first 6months. The smaller you get the more distance those LBS go.

Don't worry you'll get there.

I am having a similar situation. I am currently 70 pounds down and still wearing the same pants. I started exercising (walking and some light weights) but the difference was not very big. Most of my weight has been to my upper body (face, neck and chest) area and some in my lower (hips, legs and butt). Tried talking to doctor about it, but couldn't get a real answer from him.

I think part of it is mental too. I could "technically" wear the same pants that I did in my before photo. But, would they look as good as my smaller jeans?!? NOPE. I think that we get so used to seeing ourself everyday that we are just used to wearing the clothes out of habit. I have to dress "professional" at work, and there were some ladies who (as politely as they could) kept telling me everytime I should no longer be wearing certain clothes.

So, give it a shot and try on some smaller stuff.

I agree too, that you may not have been wearing the "right" size to begin with. So, that could be why it is taking longer also.

The weight is coming off and you will notice soon enough :tongue_smilie:

I am a certified personal trainer and I just wanted to add a few things:) Don't get too discouraged . . . everyone is different. Typically, you will lose weight in reverse of how you gain it. So, if you gain it in your stomach first, then hips, butt, thighs, arms, breasts, face, then you will lose it in your face first, then breasts, arms, thighs, butt, hips, and last stomach. So, it is totally possible to have not gone down in pants size. Is your shirt size smaller? Remember, you have places like ankles, feet, hands, wrists, back, and your neck that have fat as well so there are a lot of places all over your body that you could have easily lost weight in and not have gone down in pant size. Don't worry, it will happen, just keep doing what you are doing :tongue_smilie:

I'm down 50 pounds since my highest weight as well. My pants are still fitting too, but are getting loose. I have come to the realization that I was really stuffing myself in my clothes before.

Even though we've lost 50 pounds we've lost it in numerous areas, a little here, a little there. My clothes are definitely a lot more comfortable, some I won't be able to wear too long, but for now they fit. I'm just celebrating the 50 pounds gone and knowing my pants finally feel loose for a change!!

What the heck? Although how they fit has changed, I am still wearing pants I wore before surgery. I am down 50 and should be in a smaller size.

My question to you gals, this is kind of personal, but I am 5'4 and 245 wearing size 20. For those with similar dementions, about what weight were you when you got into an 18, 16, 14, and 12?

My curves are everywhere by the way, hourglass shape.

Well I have not had surgery yet. As far as dimentions go; I am currently @ 217 at a height of 5' 3" and can wear some 16w, but mostly 18w.

a lot of times we get wrapped up on size numbers. i was so excited that i bought a pair of jeans the other day that were a 14, i hadn't worn a 14 in probably 20 years. my sister reminded me as we were leaving that store that that particular store usually does run a little large, my responce who cares, tag says 14 so they are a 14.

i agree with what a lot are saying on here, we do lose here and there and the fit probably isn't the same and the visual perception that we have of ourselves. i have heard a lot of times people constantly view themselves at their heaviest even after they've lost considerable amounts

I too am in the same boat. I do have a fear pairs of pants/jeans that were hand me downs. Perhaps your clothes fit you better now. I too think I am shrinking up top and it is all going down to waist and butt. Which is good. I had no butt before. Had more like a frog hiney it a frog stood up and put jeans on. Our day will come. Patience is a virtue.. supposedly!

The body is a funny thing isn't it? The first place I lost? My legs! I really wanted my legs to be thinner but lose there FIRST..come on..:tt2:

Anyway, I have been steadily losing inches and weight. I get in my required Protein (and then some) usually around 100+ grams EVERYDAY without fail and I think that is a "must do" to really see the fat go away. For me, my sizes are below

5'7

254-20

244-18

226-16

Seems as if I lose a size about every 15lbs..YIPPEE. I absolutely CANNOT believe I fit in a size 16 pant (non-stretch too people)! It's the greatest I've felt in 10 years!!

I know for me, I carry most of my weight in my stomach, so if I want to buy pants that don't squish my belly fat too much, then I have to buy a size that fits around the belly, but is way too big for my butt and legs. I am not yet banded, but I know when I have lost weight in the past I only went down barely a size after having lost 50 pounds. But my weight loss was very obvious to everyone...so don't worry! In a couple of months your body will catch up and you'll probably go down a size or two really quickly.

I have not been banded yet, but I had lost a lot of weight back in 1998. I am 5'5, and now weigh 250 lbs. I barely squeeze into a 24 pants. At 170 in 1998, I wore an 18. When I was 150 in high school, I wore 16. I felt fat back then!!! Jeez...who would have known what I'd be today!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
