Dancing in Texas!!!!

Finally!! After six weeks of waiting I am approved!!! I was beginning to doubt whether it would happen. Six weeks ago today the paperwork was first submitted and I got notice that the insurance needed two recent blood pressure readings, the results of the sleep study I had done 6 1/2 years ago and they needed the doctor doing the surgery to resubmit the letter to insurance with "his" signature no someone in his office. Got the BP readings immediately to them. I explained that the doctor who ordered the sleep study passed away from cancer and his office closed and the place I had the sleep study done at was now closed and I had no records to give them. My DH offered to take a picture of me sleeping with my CPAP machine but I said no, no one was going to see that. :w00t: So everything was resubmitted on the 18th to the insurance and the waiting began again. I called my case manager yesterday and she suggested I call the insurance RN myself to see if I could get a response. I called this afternoon and got her vm and hung up planning to call her back. Low and behold less than 10 minutes later she called me and told me I was APPROVED!!!!!!! Again less than 5 minutes later I had a call from the Doctors office scheduling my appointment with the surgeon.

Sorry for this being so long but I am sooo excited I can hardly stand it. My DH says to schedule it as quick as I can (I think he is excited for me too).

So, a short story made long I say to everyone who is waiting for approval and getting totally frustrated on the waiting part, HANG IN THERE!! it's worth it. :smile2:

I can't imagine a long approval wait. It seems like forever on this stupid 6 month supervised diet and I'm READY now! Hoping for a late April or early May band. Congrats, i'll be watching your progress! Another Texas girl!

We almost bought a house in Colleyville. Amy Elizabeth is my daughter's name also. Dr Marsden will be doing mine in Hurst and I have an appt next Thursday with him. Even though it took 6 weeks to finally get approved I am lucky that I don't have to do the 6 month thing which really surprised me but I have been on every diet out there known to man but I am totally stoked and ready.

Lucky Girl. I waited (not patiently) for 16 weeks for approval. Then 6 weeks for surgery schedule. Oh well,

the day is in sight, two weeks from today.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
