I can't believe it: I gained three lbs this morning!

Recommended Posts

I go up and down constantly within a 5lb range depending on many factors.... how much salt I had the day before, the amount of Water retained, bodily fluids etc.

It's nothing to panic about.

I weigh myself daily too and had that happen a few times. I agree with what everyone said about possible causes. For me it is typically one of two things . . . either my tme of month is coming in the next day or two which is always an instant 2-4 pound gain which stayes for a few days to a week and dissapears, or just Water retention.

If it is Water retention, the best way to combat it is too drink more water. That might sound counterintuitive, but it flushes out your system and allows it to let go of the excess.

Good luck and don't stress too much. I got to goal with lots of these little hiccups and found that it was nothing to worry about at all so I don't take it too seriously.

By the way, I like V8 too. It feels strange popping the top on a can when I was a diet soda addict prior to banding and haven't imbibed in so long, lol. Sodium doesn't impact me too much so I have a couple of cans a week.

I weighed myself yesterday morning. The scale was kind enough to show 2 lbs dipped back since my 3 lbs gain. Even though I didn't lose the entire 3 lbs additionl gain, I am still very happy about it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
