Hey Tina,

I did not have to do any pre-op diet for my liver so I don't think you have anything to worry about there. The smoking thing I can't help you with. You may just have to be extra diligent with the breathing exercises post op. Best of luck to you! I would have loved a quick turn around.

Tuttleb checking in... this is the second time chiming in.

I was banded the 18th of May.

The surgery went great! I have had complications though after the second day. I took some medication (And I should not of) I guess i didn’t understand.

I was blocked up didn’t eat for two days, serious pain!

Went back to the doctor on Thursday and had my fill release some... That worked but not off the bat.

I still went into the Emergency that night to check for a blood clot in the lung... I didn’t and that is good.

I can eat now.. But I think the process has wounded me even more than the surgery...

Do any of you feel blotted at the end of the day? Too the point of cant move, even pain in shoulders chest and stomach.

For the past 3 nights I have felt this.

I also have a constant ack.

Just worried.

Hi Marathonmom,

I am having my banding on 5/28/09 as well. My bmi is 35. I elected to have this surgery because I was gaining weight year after year. I think it is very proactive to do something about the weight before major medical complications arise. I currently have hpb and diabeties runs in my family. Congratulations on your decision to get banded. Hope to hear from you during this journey.

Well its been a while since Ive ritten so here it goes....I had surgery May 8th...and lost 20lbs within the firsy 9 days!!! Then on the 10th day i broke both bones in my left arm from rollerskating..grrrr so there went my exercising for hile atleast until i can feel a bit better...had to have surgery to add some plates and pins to set my bones together....BUT when i went in on the 21st for what i thought was my '2 week post op check up' he gave me a fill!!!:blink:4 CC's to be exact......i thought i was supposed to wait a month and i questioned him but hey, who's the doc?! Now I am down 25lbs from a starting 264...leaving me at a wonderful 239...only 39lbs to go til onederland!!!! Other than being one handed things are going pretty well...even had some briskit and chicken last night...of course not even enough to amount to what i was eating pre surgery...but thats the point right??? last night was the first time i had ever actually felt 'full' it was next to amazing! the only problem i find that i am having is eating meat without taking a sip or two to get it down...if i dont itll get stuck even after chewing it a million times! So thats whats good with me!

I didn't have any preop diet... so i wouldn't worry about that, many don't.. don't know about the quit smoking part, since I don't smoke.

I was banded on the 20th and the only problems I have had is the hurt in chest and shoulders but it is getting better. I am on all liquids now and have dropped 13 since band date but that is figuring in the 5 lb gain day of banding. Hang in there, we are all in this for the long haul.

Hello mayo Banditos,

I was banded on May 22nd, no problems and NO regrets. Was acutually able to go on short shopping trip today with my daughter. I had to get out of the house for a little bit. I'm not hungry but very thirsty and walking helps so much!

Hola, mayo Banditos! I was banded on Shrinko De Mayo (5/5/09)! Just registered today and was hoping I could find a group of people to 'band' with, LOL.

So, I'm TOTALLY in bandster hell and feeling like a piggy wanting to eat everything in sight. My first fill will be June 10. Two weeks and hopefully I will have some relief!

Lost 10lbs pre-op then 15 more as of a week ago but now I think I've gained back about 5! Arrrggg!! Why did I buy that stoopid scale last night at Target!!?? LOL

So how are you all doing? ;-)

Hi WM, A couple of things I'm looking forward to on the mushie stage is refried Beans with low fat cheese & ff sour cream, also hummus. On my list, we can also have eggs, crackers, toast, kidney or black beans, canned tuna & chicken, mashed bananas & pears, pureed spinach. I am going to make a very small egg salad sandwich (less than 1/2, with ff mayo) I can't wait! Does that help with ideas? I'm from Ok also.

Hey everyone!!

This is my first post since my banding on Thurs 5/21/09.

I had a lot of pain in my shoulders and my neck the first two days after surgery. It was from the gas and the dr said it was normal so i didnt freak out....but MAN did that hurt. My bandages came off on sunday and they're healing well. My starting weight was 267lbs. I started 2 weeks of Fluids on may 7th....the liquid stage pre-op was hell. My doctors were extremely strict about this diet. I could only have clear low sodium broth, sugar free Jello, 2 cups of non starchy veggies a day, 2 tblspoons of fat free dressing a day and Decaf coffee with splenda...lets just say i wasnt a happy camper.... but im now down to 249!!! I hope to keep this up and im goin to vegas in the begining of august! i cant wait to buy some new clothes@!!!

good luch to everyone! Its worth it and I cant wait to see more results!! I'll be back soon with more progress

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
