To Fill or Not To Fill...

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

With my last recent fill, I have FINALLY had some restriction! For months I didn't even feel like I had a lap band!!

Right now, for example, I can eat a 2 pieces of deli turkey breast, a quarter cup of mashed potatoes and a quarter cup of steamed veggies... My family is convinced that I am nuts to get another fill, but I feel like I should maybe get a little more in my band, because within two hours of eating, I am STARVING again!

To fill or not to fill...That is the question!!!

Any input would be appreciated!

If you are hungry 2 hours after eating, a small tweak will probably do you good. I firmly believe that success with your band has A LOT to do with your fills... you don't want to have to be so concerned about 'self control' with the band. The band should dim the hunger significantly when you get to your sweet spot.

Please take note and notice that katy said "tweak". That doesn't mean a regular fill. It sounds like you have good restriction, you just need the food to stay a little longer in your pouch. Be careful and proceed slowly. If after the fill you have any problems at all, get it taken out.

I am in the same place you are. I finally feel like I have hit a good restriction but I think I need a little more. When I go back to the dr. next week I will have to see how much weight i have lost cause they might not allow me to get another fill right now.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
