6th day on liquid diet and frustrated!

Recommended Posts

Anyone else loose little to no weight on their preop diet? I feel like I have been do really good with nothing to show. I am afraid that my doc isn't going to believe that I did it! My surgery is in two days.

Yeah, some docs are really strict and won't do the surgery if the patient hasn't lost enough weight.....and some are pretty flexable. Good luck!

Apparently each doctor is quite different in the diet requests. I have 3 friends who were told to do a 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery but I was told to do only 7 days (and we're all fairly close in size). I didn't even get weighed on the morning of surgery so they didn't watch that closely. Just stick with it for health reasons and I'm sure you'll be fine!! Good luck!!

I am really hoping my doctor isn't really stick about the diet. He didn't seem to be when I met with him. I guess I will know in a couple of days (having surgery on Thursday). I am self-pay...hope that helps him not tell me NO!

Well, see, the weight is not the thing, per se. What will really decide if somebody gets the band or not is if they have significant fat deposits around their liver. A fatty liver can make it difficult (and more dangerous) to place the band.

Yup. What Angel said. Since there is no way to really know without going in laproscopically, weight lost is the next best indicator. In theory, a person could lose a lot of scale weight, and their liver may still be too heavy to place the band, I guess.

I only lost 3 pounds on my liquid diet - and my dr was fine with it. He told me not to worry that the surgery would take place. So don't worry to much about it. If they don't do it - they will really only delay it about a week, but for the most part they will do the surgery.

Keep us posted and good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
