Hello.. I live in thunder bay and am considering having the lap band procedure done in mexico. I am hoping to find people in Thunder Bay that have had this procedure done and can give me some advice. I dont know where I would go for fills or if they are dont in thunder bay.

Also, I am not what someone else might call obese. I am 5 foot 2 and 175 pounds. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and feel that this procedure is a good option for me. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated(especially about where to go for fills)

Thanks

Hi

I am also in Thunder Bay and considering surgery in Mexico. In fact I'm hoping to get it pretty soon. I've been researching where to get fills. I am looking to have my surgery with Dr. Kuri and his fantastic nurse has given me several locations where to get fills done. Unfortunately the closest location is Minniapolis and several little towns around Minni. However for a "nominal" cost they will send your doctor the information on how to do the fill and your doctor can do that righ in thier office. Of course it wouldn't be covered by OHIP so we would probably be out of pocket a 100.00 or so per fill but that is cheaper than going to Minniapolis.

Which doctor are you thinking about getting it done with and do your friends and family think your insain too?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
