First Fill 04/02 will it hurt?

Recommended Posts

I'm supposed to have my first fill on April 2nd. Does it hurt when they use the needle? Do they use any kind of numbing medicine?:cursing:

Some docs use numbing, some don't. Mine doesn't, and it doesn't hurt a bit. I can barely feel it.

Thank you that worked!!! I'm so excited. I just had the surgery 2 weeks ago so all of this is new to me.

Yeah, that's such a great tutorial. If I can follow it, it's pretty much fool proof, lol.

Congrats on your on your recent banding. It looks like you're off to a great start too.

Hi there,

I had my first fill a few weeks ago. I had no numbing agents- and I did not feel it one bit. My doc had me do a sort of 1/2 sit up and he found my port, popped the needle in and all done! Don't be scared!

I didn't feel a thing and this is coming from a major needle phobe!!!

My doctor utilizes a numbing agent. I have never felt any pain or discomfort with my fills.

I don't look at needles ever ever ever!!!!

Good luck!

I had my first fill this morning, and I'm going to be completely honest with you - it hurt like hell!! I have a very high tolerance for pain and it wasn't really the needle that hurt, but rather her pressing on the port to find it.. OUCH!!!

I have had one fill and my doctor did numb me, and it did not hurt one bit. I wasn't even sore afterward. I was more nervous for the fill than the surgery. Good luck.

My doc uses a numbing injection first, that kind of stings, after that it is just pressure and I sense a sort of "pop" when the Huber Needle goes into the port. I can always tell he found it!

My Dr uses a small needle to numb the area first. That feels like a mosquito bite. Then I don't feel anything for the bigger needle. I usually bruise though and am sometimes sore from the pushing around the port. Nothing bad though.

Had my first fill on Friday, 2 days ago, and it hurt like hell! The PA who does this at my office doesn't use lidocaine, but he will be using it for me in the future. I would definitely ask for it. Everyone's different, but I was in a lot of pain.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
