Hi All,

I am 3 months post op.

I noticed my port can sometimes be tender . It doesn't hurt though. Has anyone else experianced this ?

I have also noticed that my port has moved?? My Husband thinks it's because i'm losing weight ??

Saturday I'll be 10 weeks post-op and a few weeks ago I noticed discomfort with my port area, not really pain. At this point I've come to the same conclusion that your husband has. I found that if I slouched in chair at all, it would become tender, not as much padding to cushion it? I have since been watching my posture (sitting up straight) and the discomfort has gone away! Scientific? Heck no, just my retarded opinion, LOL

tgnd, yes -- its very normal. I'm over a year out and I find it still gets a bit tender at times.

My doctor did tell me that my port did move as well, and he told me it WAS from weight loss.

HTH

I just love reading everyones posts, I always learn so much from them. I am 3 months postop and freaked out the other day because I could not really feel my port. So what did I do? What I always do, I look on this site for answers :cursing:. Turns out my port is now above my scar line, where as before it was right under it. I read one post that said the loss of weight makes the skin sag....seeing some of that now (ARGGG)...and sure enough I can feel my port about an inch and a half above my scar line.

I could see why losing weight would shift things around!

The port doesn't really move;it is attached to your abdominal wall. It's the soft tissue, fat and skin that move. When I lie down, my port is just underneath my scar. Standing, it's above it. This freaked me out at first, but I figured that was what was happening, and my dr confirmed it. :cursing:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
