msmary....we will have to keep in touch and help each other thru this (although you might hate me, my Dr dosen't perscribe to the pre-op liquid diet). I don't know about you, but I'm counting the days down....

I had my pre-op visit on the 13th and found out that I am the 1st surgery scheduled for the day...I'm very excited to know that I won't have to sit and wait for who knows how long...the only thing I'm really concerned about is my surgeon took his family skiing this week for spring break, before he left the room I told him have fun and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!! god knows I don't want to reschedule or have to find another surgeon at this stage of the game!!!

fatgirlinNY.....it's gonna be your job to let us know what to expect LOL....good luck to you on the 25th....I have no doubt everything will go smoothly!! Keep in touch I have a feeling we are all gonna need a sympathetic ear that actually KNOWS what we are going thru to help pull us thru!!

XOXO~Monica

Well I am not going to be a band twin...but close. I will be banded on 03/27. I am excited and scared. My husband and I are going through this together. He was banded in Dec 08 and has already lost over 40lbs.

This is going to be a long haul to the finish line, but I am ready.

Congrats!!

Sounds like you two already have a great built in support system working

Hopefully I will feel up to posting in the afternoon when I get home from the hospital so I'll try and let ya know how it went for me....I'm expecting things to go very smoothly....had my gallbladder out (lap) 2 days before Christmas and lap hysterectomy the previous Nov so i'm hoping this goes as smoothly for me as those two surguries did :).

Good luck to you next Friday (can you believe it is just a week away!!) I hope you and your hubby have wonderful results!!

Hey Monica ~ I have a co-worker who was banded in February and her Dr. didn't require the pre-op diet either. Its not been the most fun thing so far but it's kick-started the weight loss a bit so for that I'm thankful. (She says as she sips her cup of broth...YUM :tongue_smilie:)

My surgery is early in the A.M. too but I'm not sure it's first. I agree though. The less time spent sitting around worrying the better. It's be a tough enough day as it is.

I'm counting the days too. I find myself looking at my calendar a lot. I have no doubt your surgeon will be good to go on the 26th. It'll be here before we know it.

Keep in touch!

Mary

Oh My it's getting so close for us. Of course the closer it gets the more afraid I become. Im afraid Im going to lead a life of throwing up and gagging, I think thats my biggest fear

You are by far not alone in that fear. I think I've almost researched myself into the fear at this point. I can feel the anxiety building which of course makes sticking to this liquid diet harder than hell. But so far still no cheating.

We just have to think positive and believe in ourselves. I know there's always been a voice of doubt in the back of my head whenever I've attempted something new. I'm working really hard at quieting that voice this time and taking control. We can do this. It'll be trial and error at points but we'll succeed! Hopefully with as little gagging as humanly possible because I REALLY hate the idea of that too! :)

I think if we just remember to take things SLOW and EASY then it won't be as bad as yall are thinking it might....

4 more days!!!!! I can hardly wait!!

I have to say....I'm more excited then nervous, I know this is something I can do. I've spent over 18 months trying to get to this point.

I'm very lucky that not only do I have the great support here at LBT, but I have a very good friend who is 5yrs out with a band, I think that my be one reason why I'm so relaxed about my decision.

The worst thing for me is that my husband has family coming from out of town next wkend so we are supposed to do the whole family get togeather thing....oh and grill steak woohoooo!! None of his family knows I'm having the band....and I expect them to be more judgemental then supportive.

I guess I'll be facing a huge challenge right off the bat wooohoooo

Hi, this is my first time posting and I am scheduled to have my surgery on 3/26. I am extremely excited but a little apprenhensive about the surgery itself. My doctor did not prescribe the liquid diet until Tuesday for two days only. However, I have been on a high Protein, low carb/low fat diet for two weeks. I think I have lost about 1 lb (no joke!). It's nice to know there are other people out there going through the same thing as me right now!

 Scared about the surgery!!

:crying: Excited about losing weight!!

I had my surgery on the 26th. I am excited and worried at the same time. So far not to bad. The pain is not what I expected. I seem to have no problems with the liquid diet so far.

I was banded on 3/26 and so far things have gone smoothly. I did not like having to spend the night in the hospital but that was one of my surgeons prerequisites for surgery. I do not feel like I have received proper guidance on the liquid diet. The dietician at the hospital where I had my surgery was on vacation so they had some lady call in from her house on the phone to my hospital room to talk to me. She said to alternate 2 ounces of apple juice, broth, Jello, and Decaf tea every 15 minutes when awake until my followup appointment on April 1st. Does that sound right? My stomach is making all kind of crazy noises. Hope everyone is filling good and not in too much pain!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
