Ok my mom and dad were being really supportive of me but now my mom is starting to be against the idea of me getting banded. She finally did research and oly read like one mean while I've read like 20 pages about it. She is concerned because she read that after surgey you won't ever be able to eat teh same things. She also read that after being banded you will have to take alot of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of you life because you won't get the proper nutrition. Is this true???

This is killing me, she's for it, she's not for it make up your mind!

No thats not true so far. I only drink a Protein Shake about twice a week sometimes three times. I no longer take any diabetic medicine at all and its only been three and a half months since my surgery. This has been the best thing that I am had done to me.

She is right that you won't be able to eat the same way again. You won't ever be able to go to Wendys and wolf down a big burger, fries and large drink in 10 minutes. That will never happen again. But that's what made you fat to begin with. You get adjusted to what you can and can't eat. You get an unpleasant physical response when you eat the wrong things, so you actually DON'T WANT to eat them anymore. It will be fine. You will be slim in a couple of years after your surgery, and you will love it!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
