I had my surgery 3 days ago. The liquid diet is killing me. I never was a huge eater, just ate the wrong things. Anyway, now that I haven't had anything since Wednesday night I am starving. The doctor said he put .5 ml in my band at time of surgery. I had my surgery done in Cancun, Mexico due to self'pay. Could you please tell me how you are dealing with the liquid diet?

thanks

LivinWithFaith/KY:mellow:

I am also on my 5th day of pre-op diet. I am thankful I always liked Water but sometimes it seem like a drag..

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow(April 13th). I'll be at the hospital bright and early at 6:30. So far I'm not nervous but I just know that when my head hits the pillow tonight I'll be thinking of nothing but the changes that are coming my way!

Hi everyone

Updated list available HERE.

To shrink the liver, I was advised to do 3 Optifast shakes plus two cups of non-starchy vegies plus 2 litres of Water per day.

I had a bad headache the first two days that I think were primarily due to sugar withdrawal but am doing a bit better now. However, unlike a lot of people, the feeling of hunger has not dissipated (though it is not as bad as it was the first two days).

Will you be at Chapman Medical Center? It is a SMALL hospital/center and looked a bit old and outdated. There was hardly anyone there... but the nurses were great and I got more attention than I had when I had a baby at LB Memorial!

Hello Everyone! After three years of trying to get banded, I have finally gotten my surgery date which is April 28. Today is the first day of my liquid fast prior to the surgery.

I am nervous about everything going well in the operation so I am trying to read as much as I can about this. Thank you all for your remarks.

Hello Kara I start my liver shrink diet tomorrow. I'm so nervous I think more about that then the surgery. I have a real good support team (family and friends) A couple of people are going to do the diet with me (at home and work). I don't know about you or anyone else reading this I am having a hard time thinking about what I may look like in about a year from now. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck to those being banded today. I am having my surgery on Thursday bright and early!! The liquid diet is not so bad once you get past the first couple of days. I am dreading the clear liquid day on Wednesday....it is a small sacrifice to pay in the grand scheme of things.

FINALLY DID IT!!!!! This is my first time on since surgery Mon at noon - got out of the hosp Tues at noon. Felt great this morning, but as the day has gone on, I'm pooped! Have only eaten 51 g of Protein today - I'm tired of eating and drinking all the time. Just trying to stay hydrated...I think I do have a low-grade fever though. As long as I take my hydrocodone, I'm ok....hoping to get much better in the next few days! Good luck to everyone else...my experience was positive for the most part!:)

I can officially be added to the April Bandster's roll. I have to be self-pay due to insurance won't pay. I went in for my consultation today, talked to Dr., he said a go for the surgery, nurse came in and asked how soon I wanted to go, I said the sooner the better, she said they had a cancellation for the 28th, I took it.

Now I'm sitting here, amazed that this journey is moving more quickly than I imagined. Wish me luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
