Lap Band in Eastern PA?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My band was placed on 6/14/05 at H.U.P. by Dr. Noel Williams. He is a great surgeon, but his practice is VERY busy and you don't see him much. Mainly you deal with his staff, all of whom were understanding and helpful. If you want more info on him please give me a PM.

Good Luck

-Nora

HI,

I also used Dr. Noel Williams. He is at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Great doctor and his staff is sooooo understanding and always there for you, but previous poster is right, he is busy. I started researching the band procedure last January. By April I knew it was for me. My required additional medical clearance appointments were done within a six week period and I was done by September will the cardio, psych, pulmonary, sleep study, nutrition, chest x-ray, upper GI, etc, but I couldn't get a date until late November. So if you plan to go ahead with getting the band, be patient if you use Dr. Williams.

I used Dr. Ing out of Willingboro, NJ. This is only a 15 minute drive over the Betsy Ross Bridge. I really like him, and have had a wonderfull experience so far. I really recommend him. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
