D'oh!!

Sorry about that, Pearson, I read your last post and for some reason the name Becky stuck with me!

The only excuse I can offer is that I'm at work and trying to type stealthily!

Hi Pearson. I felt not so great for about 3 days. I felt pretty good after a week and good 10 days out. The trapped gas stayed with me for awhile. I couldn't take the pain meds he gave me because they gave me BAD headaches, so I was just on meds for 2 days. I was up and walking the day after my surgery. I was staying in a hotel and I walked up and down the hall... over and over... day and night. I'm sure people thought I was nuts, but it helped. Have you started your pre-op diet yet?? Let me know how you are doing and keep asking questions and reading!! Take care!! Becky

Becky...

Ok, I think I'm going to keep 3, 7 and 10 days in mind as a benchmark--it seems to be fairly common. Would the pain meds have even helped with the gas? And I wonder if I get a headache if I can just call in and ask for a different med...

I'm reading a lot--- and it's all helping. I will start my pre-op diet tomorrow: one week on liquid Protein. I've done it before, so this doesn't worry me. Now, let's see if I'm singing the same tune in a week! I'll remember to walk, walk, walk. Thanks for checking in--its nice to hear from you. Pearson

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
