Why am I soooo cold all the time?

Recommended Posts

Another problem with being cold, is that it makes my rings bigger than ever (better than 50 lbs ago, when my fingers were fatter, and they would swell by nighttime). I really have to get to the jewelry store and buy some ring guards. I know I'm going to have to get them resized before long, but I only want to do it once. I had to have them made bigger as I gained weight, and this is so much nicer.

I FREEEEEEZE all the time and I am not "skinny" yet. I have read this very thing many times here. I don't have an answer but I am sure it has to do with the volume of weight lost. :(

I did go to the Dr on Wednesday and they took ALOT of blood for Iron and thyroid screen...my Dr has been my Dr for a LONG time..he delivered me and knows me well...and after talking about this he even laughed and asked if I was over thinking this like I do everything else and told me to try to ignore it a little bit..told me to push my heater away from me at work and try little things to try to acclimate myself to my daily surrounding better...we had a good laugh out of it and I told him I would try that...the funny thing is that I really have been trying not to stay as bogged down in the Freezing to Death thing and it has helped some...Hahaha!

A friend ask me yesterday if I had been feeling colder than usual, and said that its because we are not consuming very much food, therefore not accumulating the same energy that we produced pre-band.

Not for sure if she is correct, but it seems logical to me.

This friend is very athletic, and also worked for Abbott, and knows alot about nutrition.

Was sort of surprised by her explanation, as I previously thought it was because Im losing some of my insulation :=)

I am going through the same thing...everyone thinks it's nuts now because I used to drink everything iced and now I drink everything HOT! I was a big sweater and wore t-shirts almost all year round and never owned a heavy coat. This winter in NY I have been f r e e z i n g!!

All my readings are good so it's not low anything lol.

But I did ask my Dr and he also said it has to do with the intake of food and the body fat!

So I'm sure we all agree ...I'd rather be cold!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS !! Your are an inspiration to all of us! Since I have lost weight I too am cold. As I ask around I find that most people at normal weight freeze at anything below 72 degrees! I guess it is because we no long have our insulation. I just want to give you a big hug for what you accomplished!

I want to thank everyone for all the very kind words about my success with lapband...it really helps because I find that even my closest friends are not as happy that I have gone over and above what they thought I would accomplish...plus I have had all the reconstructive plastic surgery and now that there are men commenting it makes them even more jealous...I did the plastic surgery to correct all the skin that didn't seem like it needed to be there..not to grab the attention of a man. Men are a dime a dozen and I don't need one to be happy with myself...a man is only an added bonus to my life...Happiness comes from within! As far as my test results...I haven't heard anything yet but when the lab tech removed the needle my arm continued to bleed and he laughed a little and said "I'm banking on Iron Poor". I will let yall know as soon as I know...Once again, I appreciate the compliments and wish everyone all the success in the world because I know how it has changed my life and my childrens lives.:)

I am also cold a lot. For me it's due to metabolism changes. I will be cold, drink a lot of Protein and within an hour, I'm nice and warm. I also have a hypothyroid condition and an Iron deficient - those don't help.

My doc told me that as we lose, our thyroid levels are adjsuting to the new weight. Since we are losing a lot, it's in constant flux. Your thyroid is what regulate body tempurature, and thyroid hormones are stored in fat. As we lose, we lose thyroid. It tends to adjust itself, but some people have trouble and can't do for themselves. You may have to have it checked. I've had to reduce my thyroid meds twice since surgery. Once you level out, and your body catches up, you should adjust, but it will take a few months at a constant weight. I'm cold now too, but it finally seems to be improving a little.

I thought I was the only one with this problem. I am glad that spring is here and it will be getting warmer. It has been a long and cold winter in CT and Missouri. I have been cold all winter. The other problem that Iam having is with my skin and how dry/itchey it is.

Chris

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
