Hi can someone please explain what they do when you have a fill done under Xray? Do you get to see your port and your band?

Thanks

I don't know if my doc uses an xray or if that is the same thing as the phlorscopy thing my surgeon has, but YES! I can see it all..it is pretty cool. And they explain what you are looking at.

Most will use what they call the FLouro xray. Yousit upright on a table and the xray machine is a round dinner plate size round thing, they move and adjust over your stomach. They will show on a TV or computer screen and yes you can see your band and stomach. I did not take a pic, but a friend of mine held onto her phone and took pics of the screen. They wil make you drintk that cream stuff to make sure you have a large enough opening after a fill. My dr does this one usualluy on the first or second so he knows wher the port is and if tilted. I had my first under the Flouro and the next 7 done without. piece of cake.

My first fill was done two weeks ago, and it was done under x-ray. I laid down during the procedure, so I couldn't see anything at that time (the x-ray machine is placed over your abdomen as you lay down, and the doctor does the fill then). It was very easy! Once I got up, I could see the picture of the x-ray on a screen next to where I was laying. It was weird to see it! I didn't have to drink any cream stuff; just a few sips of Water to make sure it went down okay. Piece of cake!

I have had two fills under Fluoro. In my doctors office I lie down to have the fill then walk accross the room and stand at the xray machine. I drink a small amount of barium and my pouch and stomach show on the screen in grey. Then I am handed a glass of Water and told to drink half while facing the screen then turn to my side with elbows up and drink the other half. You can watch the water pass through. As it is passing into the lower stomach he hits "print" and I get to take home a picture to hang on the fridge.

I also had my fill done with the help of a floroscope--She had me drink the barium liquid (nasty) and mine was done standing up, she put the needle in and put 5cc's in the band, had me drink more and I was done.

I could watch as I was drinking and watched to see how much restriction I had.

This was very helpful. I go March 11th for my first fill and they told me that this one was done at the imaging center (vs his office) so he could do it under fluro. I was curious about what I would be seeing and feeling. Thanks alot!!

Hi, Capitol Chick, another July butterfly here.

I have gotten all my fills under fluro. My fill doctor starts showing me all my innards and I can hardly stand it. I have almost fainted all 3 times. She wants me to see how slow the barium drips down to my stomach so I can see how tight I am and my port and you can even see yourself breath which sort of puts me into a panic.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
