has anyone tried water pills to lose a few lbs?

Recommended Posts

I have a big event coming up that I would love to send some lbs. on a vacation.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I know they are not permanent and not something to take all the time. I just really need to get to the next level and push this pudge outta me!

So, if you ever had any success, please tell me what brand you used.

Also please tell me if you had same success with other diuretics like tea or food ones or if the pills are stronger

p.s. I just bought the natural ones from whole foods and the pills were horse pills and I tired a pill splitter that didn't turn out so well- so I am returning them.

OK, so you know its temporary and stuff, but how does shedding a few lb in Water really achieve anything? Its not as if you really LOOK better when you do it unless you have a bloating problem to begin with. Lose 4lb of Water and nobody's going to be able to tell - especially since you will still have the same amount of fat - you're not really shedding pudge at all.

You'd be better off just going onto a very strict diet and exercise regime for a week or two - you'll lose lots of water and probably a bit of fat as well, which is better.

Its probably not dangerous (but you know it can be), but just something not really worth bothering with.

If I remember correctly after the band you tend to be dehydrated any how so taking a Water pill will add to the dehydration. I agree with Jachut, exercise and diet will give you better long term results.

Water pills are great for their intended use--to lose water. Are you drinking enough water? If not, they can cause muscle cramping and eventually cause you to retain whatever water your body does have.....unless you're someone sensitive to sodium or retain water for other reasons (like PMS or a medication) they really aren't worth it. Go for a long walk instead! I have found them to be helpful when flying---if you're someone whose ankles blow up this will help. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money. Nothing replaces good diet and exercise. :hurray:

I found for me, the best way to lose any bloating and get rid of excess Water weight is by drinking Water. It seems to flush everything out and I always lose more weight when I kick up the water consumption a notch.

Are you tracking how much water you typically drink on a daily basis?

NO Water pills are not the answer. Drink more and you will lose more. Water pills will drain you of important minerals.

Drink drink drink and you will be fine! (plus it is good for your skin :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
