Hey all, I've been a 'lurker' for a month or two and went to a lapband seminar in january and am scheduled to have my first consultation with the surgeon tomorrow and I'm petrified! Is there anything I should or shouldn't say?? Is there anything I should make sure to ask? I think I've done my homework and have been reading up on it and my parents have both read through the info to see if they have any questions (I'm 31, lol) but I want to see if the pros have any advice. Don't want to say something 'wrong' to get this thing derailed before it even gets on the tracks! Thanksfor any help!

Hi. Just wanted to say good luck to you!! I had some questions when I met with my surgeon, but many had already been answered here. I had a few questions about the procedure itself, the pre and post op diets, and follow up care and fills. I'm sure they've heard them all so don't worry about saying anything wrong. If there is anything I can do to help you, just let me know. Take care. Becky

I also have my first consultation tomorrow, and I am thrilled to finally get on the road!!!

This site has helped quite a bit with some of the questions I had, but then again, it also gave me quite a few questions also...lol.

But I'm sure the doctors will be more than willing to answer ANY question we have!!

Good luck!

I think I'd ask questions about my insurance coverage, whether his office has had any experience with your particular insurance package. Seems to be the thing that delays the lap band the most often. Other than that, ask about physical restrictions you might experience, whether you have any other surgeries that might be done at the same time (e.g., a hernia repair is common, though maybe not at your young age), and maybe what you should expect for the first few weeks after surgery. What is his policy on calling the office with questions, especially right after surgery? Does he have an emergency number? I think complications are rare, but it never hurts to ask about the fallback stuff, like who/when to call, etc.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
