that's a little long but delayed urination isn't uncommon. You should go "like normal" now.

I had to go the ER for a cath after I couldn't go for over 12 hours. My doctor really thought I would be able to go once I got home but I just couldn't. Once I went through the whole ER trama they really didn't get much urine from me, guess I was a little dehydrated even though I was trying to drink. I was good to go once I got the in/out cath.

Immediately after going to my room, i thought I had to pee. But, I just couldnt. I sat there and then went back to bed. I tried a few times throughout the day and still nothing.

Then, the nurse said I had half an hour or they were going to do a cath. So, I went in the bathroom and sat there until I could go.

I never thhought I would have to work so hard just to do something as normal as peeing

It's a common thing for some to have dysuria. Anesthesia slows down ALL body functions and it takes a bit for some organs to "wake up". Once you start, you should be fine, but if you aren't going nomally soon, call your doc.

I had a difficult time urinating after surgery as well. I tried and nothing worked. I stayed over night and finally at 3 o'clock in the morning the nurse came in and said that I needed to try or they were going to make me use a cath. So finally 20 hours after surgery I was able to go. The whole week after it was hard to because my stomach muscles hurt so bad sitting on the toliet.

Yea the anesthesologist gives you drugs to dry you up. That's why. Hehe they wouldn't release me from the hospital unless I peed. I finally lied just so i could go home. I didn't urinate for real until 8 hours or so after my surgery.

you were really lucky. Often the "urge" goes but the bladder still gets full and it can actually burst...or cause kidney problems, etc. That's why they ask...they don't care personally, it's for your own health! I'm a nursing student and hope I never have a patient like you will lie about something like that!

I had to go soooo bad and for the life of me couldn't.. My bladder and my back were hurting so bad that the nurse came in and rubbed my back for me. They gave me some kind of shot and about 30 mins later I went to the bathroom and finally it started flowing.. I went every 10 minutes after that for the rest of the night.

Apparently, the only thing most people need to go is the threat of a catheter!

I was catheterized during surgery--do any of you know if you were?

At 2 and a half months out my aim is improving.

LOL!!

I was too, but I only knew because I asked. I went to sleep and woke up sans catheter, thankfully.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
