...to my scale!!!! I can't help it....every time I walk into the bathroom, or even pass the bathroom walking down the hall, I get the urge to go weigh myself! And it's so discouraging because even though I'm losing weight, it goes up and down a pound or two (probably just Water retention). So if I just weighed once a week it would show a gradual decline....BUT since I weigh 3, 4, sometimes 5 times a day it shows all the ups and downs. Then I'm in a bad mood when it shows a pound more than it showed a coulple of hours earlier! AAAHHHHH!!!! I know this seems like a ridiculously stupid post, but I am just feeling really frusterated right now as I'm at one of my "up" moments on the scale! Does anyone else have this problem?

The dreeded scale! I have been down that road ( haha ) Im, not laughing at you I thought I was the only one! I drove miles to find great medical scale.

Don,t be fooled by the scale it goes up and down and so does your emotions.try only weighing your self first thing in the morning! after eating & drinking and Water you will go up as many as 6 or 7 pounds aday. then its gone the next morning.

For me if Im, up a pound then I no I have to walk more in the day and watch my food intake......and burn it off!

It can be a hard road WEIGHT LOSS but It sure is worth it.

well good luck take care God bless.

Only first thing in the morning! That's your lowest weight of the day.

The rest of the day is crap

Brandi, you are not alone! Maybe we should form a support group... Weighers Anonymous or something 8-)

I go to the bathroom, strip, and get on the scale first thing in the morning and right before bed. It's like I'm obsessed! And it's only getting me down. I just don't think I have the willpower to wait a week. I'm thinking of asking my husband to hide the scale on me.

Brandi I was just like you in the beginning, but now I only weigh once a week if that.

I found like you, thescalewould dictate my mood for theday. I also noticed I would sabatoge myslef.

I have worked hard to not let what the numbers on the scale say dictate my success. I am now focused on the things in my life that have changed for the better since being banded. Try it, instead of jumpijng on the scale. Move thescal out of your bathroom for starters.

I have been addicted to scales and tape measure for about 30 years. I have weight tracking going back into the middle 70s and measurements from the 80s on up. I can't bear to throw them away but since they are in different books, I refuse to bring all the books to a central location.

I don't just dwell on the scale pounds but am I losing inches as fast as I did before (a little faster maybe) and in the same locations (no!). Okay, my midsection has gone done much slower through the 40s but my thighs/knee/calf are reducing much faster than the 20s.

My latest thing (since mid 90s) is tracking which clothes fit at which weight. Even though the inches may be reduced, it might be a non-measurement area that fits differently.

I read that everyone has something they are obcessive compulsive about and I guess this is my thing. That strange thing probably is that I do track my dogs weight but I've never measured her....hmmmm, I wonder if I just found a new hobby.

I agree with the first thing in the morning idea. I weigh as soon as i wake up butt naked and after a wee.

Gotta be the best way to do it

I too am addicted to the scale. I go on first thing in the a.m., maybe when I get home from work & before bed. I find the fluxuations very interesting...I can pretty much predict them now. I know it's way way too much. Let's start scales anonymous. Hi I'm Karen & I'm addicted to my scale.

Okay....I did it! I made my husband get rid of my scale while I was at work today. There was a broken piece on it and I need a new one anyways, so I have made up my mind that I'm not gonna buy a new one for one whole month! Until then, I'll try and focus on if my clothes are getting bigger. Then hopefully in a month I'll be pleasantly surprised. Thanks everyone for your replies....it's nice to know I'm not the only obsessive one:)

You are a brave soul getting rid of the scale. I don't think I could do-- I am totally obsessed. I find that if I stand on my left foot and lean a bit I weigh a few pounds less--LOL! Oh yeah- definetly naked in the am after the bathroom. LOL!

:raises hand: I'm also a scale addict and it isn't pretty. I actually didn't have a scale in my house for YEARS. I had taken the scale, beat the ever loving sh-- out of it, took it to the dumpster and unceremoniously threw it has hard as I could into the bin.

Really, I loathe scales.

But for my surgery, I bought a new one. And I'm OBSESSIVE about weighing. It's terrible. I fell RIGHT back into the scale addiction.

Brandi I'm proud of you for getting rid of that damn thing!!!!

I weigh every day, usually twice. Once in the morning before I get dressed, and once sometime in the evening. I don't know why in the evening, I know that it will be up, because I've consumed things during the day, but I do it anyway. I also had gotten to a point where I measured my waist nearly every day (when I was stuck and not losing, and not changing shape). I finally broke that one though, but I'm still on the scale twice a day. I've had 2 scales go out on me and each time I bought a new one the very same day, so I don't think it would work to have my boyfriend toss it. I do want to get one of the ones that does body fat % though at some point. Right now I just have a cheapo analog scale.< /p>

Hi - My name is Cheryl and I'm addicted to my scale. I weigh myself in the morning, before and after the bathroom. Then I weigh myself before I eat/drink anything (to see if I should eat/drink) then again when I'm done eating/drinking. Then again, when I'm feeling "fat" and again, when I'm feeling "thin" (not too much of that one though). I weigh myself before I go to bed, and again in the middle of the night at "potty" time. I always weigh myself 2 to 3 times each time as well - just to make sure that it reads the same. I get on with my left foot first, then my right foot first to see which I weigh less on. I've leaned to the right and then left, knees bent, knees straight, even standing on one foot. The scale is an evil, evil thing. I agree that it must have been created by a MAN.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
