New Here, Getting Banded 2-13

Recommended Posts

Ok, well im Mike, live north of Houston Texas and will be getting the bad on this Friday the 13th, I'm pretty excited and looking forward to getting in better shape and a smaller weight.

I'm currently 5'11 and weight 379, BMI is over 50, looking to be around 225 or so and looking hot again.

I'm sure im going to have alot of questions, and needing some advice after Friday, so i plan to spend alot of time here in the future.

Ok, well i got the band put on last friday the 13th, everything went pretty good, i was pretty out of it all day friday and mostly just slept. Came home from the hospital on saturday afternoon, and was still pretty tired, so i went to bed early and slept till noon today. I had a slight fever last night, but took some tylenol when i went to bed and i feel much better today. I havent had alot of actual pain, more soreness than anything, which is alot better today.

The last few days, ive just been drinking broth, fruit juice, Water, and some applesauce, and i drank a protien shake today, but it may have been alittle thick, so i think ill wait a few more days to try one again.

I go back for my post op appointment on the 19th, and im sure ill have some news to post an update.

I just decided to look into getting banded. My dad actually brought it up and is willing to pay for it. I'm excited, but scared.I know my life will change.

Yeah this has def been the best decision Ive made for myself. I posted an update, 2 weeks post op, and I'm down to 357, so that's 30lbs total since i first went to the lap-band dr that 2nd week in December.

Like said above, if you need it, then go for it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
