How soon after surgery were you back to exercise????

Recommended Posts

I am having my abdominplasty in one week!!!!!!!

Just wondering... truthfully... how long it will be before I can get back to the gym????

I am very nervous about what all this laying around and recovering is going to do to my body!!!!

I know I have to heal and take it easy... just want to know when everyone else got back to their fitness routines??????

thanks for your posts!!!

I was not able to exercise until the 6th week, and then, only lightly. It was truly 3 months before I was 100% back to full gym training. Once I was lifting again, it only took a couple of weeks to get my full strength back.

I recovered from my TT well, but when I had my thigh lift, I pushed it too hard post-op -- started walking about 5 days out (I felt fine, after all) and I developed complications (seromas that resolved but that were a pain in the tush for about 6 weeks).

It's not worth it. Sit tight until your doctor tells you otherwise, even if you feel you could exercise. Your body burns so many calories post-op that, for me at least, I found weight gain wasn't a concern. And, like I said above, even with 3 months off weight training, I got it all back within a couple of weeks.

Good luck! TT is wonderful. To this day I say losing 200 lbs over 18 months didn't make me a thin person -- having a 5 hour TT did.

My surgery is scheduled for June 9th, 09. I'm so flippin excited it's unreal. And while I know I have tons of time until I get to this stage, I was wondering how much your TT and Thigh tuck cost you?

Thanks,

Jessica

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
