Any Deaths due to lap band

Recommended Posts

I am in the Woodlands also and have posted about the doctor --- she got very sick and had warning signals but she did not go to another doctor or to the emergency room---- she should have paid more attention to her body

I read somewhere she had surgery in TJ-- think it was Ortiz but apparently she did not call clinic and inform of any problems..was on her way to Colo 3 weeks after surgery and was not feeling well. Article about her in Conroe Courier Newspaper last Nov, 2008 but does not say what findings were. We are all vulnerable to problems and I think if you feel the slight bit uncomfortable please follow up with doctor to be on the safe side.

Just want to add a little information about Leslie's passing. She was in contact with doctors while out of town and was paying close attention to her body. She had strep before she left for her trip and had taken antibiotics, per her doctor. She was not feeling particularly badly before the trip, but became ill the day she traveled. Yes she was in a lot of pain, which she originally thought might have something to do with what she had eaten. Later medication was phoned in for her. Yes, she was educated as is her family - her father is an attorney, not her husband. There were probably a dozen things that should have happened differently and her death may have been avoided. Just take care of yourself after your surgery and listen to what your body is telling you...make sure your partner is watching out for you to make sure you take it easy until you are fully healed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
