I love your post! I am so glad to read number 2. I have not been banded yet, but have had a lot of thoughts about your number 2 (and I am not talking about poo! LOL).

There are so many people the the outskirts of my circle of friends (friends of friends etc that I see often) that are just down right rude to me because of my size. And I know that they are shallow enough to want to be my friend as I lose weight and start to look "acceptable". And that is so hard to explain to your other friends! LOL I have also worried about having to explain myself a billion times a day . . . I don't want all the attention really. But I am still so excited for the band and can't wait!

Thank you so much for posting that - I feel more human about my feelings. I thought it was just me!

Miles of Smiles -

Wonderful post. I loved it. I am being banded on Feb. 18. Two days away and I am getting scared. Victoria secrets sounds like a nice place to shop after I start losing weight. I have lost 30 in 3 weeks so I am well on my way. Just scared of the surgery.

You have done well, keep up the great work.

I have a complaint to add...

Too many folks keep telling me that I'm getting too thin! WTH?

I'm so glad I stumbled across this post! I had a minor melt down this past Monday after I saw the surgeon for my initial consult. I was reading all of the negative posts and began to wonder if I was ready for such a life-altering change. Reading your post reminded me that I am DEFINITELY ready for the change! I'm ready to be that skinny girl that I once was when I was younger (of course, she hasn't been seen since about the age of 19!). Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Love this post; thanks so much for sharing. I too am getting nervous, not about the surgery, that'll be fine, but about being warned that it's sewn to your stomach so if you ever get the flu be sure to get anti-nausea medication (this from the shrink-thanks Doc!). I hadn't even thought about such a thing before that conversation.

You might want to start a new thread with this question, as this topic is different and might not be seen here. Just a suggestion.

I have a question. What made you choose Lap band of Mini Gastric Bypass?

Don't reconsider... it's the best decision I ever made. Bypass was too major for me and I didn't want to cut my stomach out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
