Hello, My name is Sherry and was browsing when I came across this site. i am looking forward to hearing and sharing banding news and experiences. I was banded on Dec.18,2008 in Dallas by Dr. Jay (prestonwood center). As of today I have lost 20.5 pounds. I feel better and have been walking 2-3 miles 6 days a week. I recieved my first fill on Wednesday 01-21-09 5cc and am a full liquid diet until Wednesday. I do not know anyone personally that has been banded and am looking forward to all that this site has to offer. Would appreciate some support from any and all. Thanks!!!!!!!

Thanks. Glad to know someone that has had the band at least a little close to the time I had mine. My first fill was on Wednesday and I have been on a liquid diet since.Today is the first day that I have actually been hungry and I can't seem to get my tummy to stop growling!

I was told that if that happens my insurance would pay to have it fixed. Strange that they will pay to have it fixed but not pay to have it placed because in the long run hopefully we will be saving them money on RX's and other stuff due to the obesity. But that's insurance for you:blush:

Do you know since we are self pay what happens if our band slips ? Just curious.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
